Pancratium maritimum (the scientific name) is practically a flower bulb that grows on beaches and sand dunes around the Mediterranean sea and a few more parts of the world. Extremely tolerant to hot and arid climates, sand lily (a more casual name) has survived for thousands of years until the modern concept of tourism started to invade to its habitat. Nowadays it is in danger of extinction and can only be found in remote and unspoiled coastlines. I am fortunate enough to live only a few kilometers away from one of those coastlines and when it flourishes every fall, I make sure to be there :)

Oooh, I'll play! I remember taking this picture, but I don't remember exactly where I was at - I think it was Longwood Garden in Kennett Square, PA, but I do not remember for sure.
The Netherlands is know from it's flower fields. And I happen to live quite near them. The tulips season is in April/May. They usually attract a lot of visitors from all countries except this year.
I made this shot a couple of years ago. I really like the colours of these tulips and the fact that there is one white tipped tulip among the others.
