2022: The Year of the Teacher Blog (English and Italian)

For 2022, I have made the resolution that I'd like to take up blogging. It's something new, and different and I feel a bit adventurous. I just made that meme above on a meme generator. I'm already stepping into new my new ambition and learning new skills!

I love language, and the power of words. How fortunate then, that I'm an English teacher. I'm currently living on the North Coast of NSW in Australia. That's about five hours north of Sydney. It's a beaut spot to teach, and I hope you'll come on the 2022 journey with me.

In 2022, I hope to be sharing with you what my teaching world looks like - what I'm teaching, and to share resources and pedagogical tips. At other times, I'd just like the opportunity to type, to be able to have a few minutes in my day for myself. I often have such funny stories or colleagues misbehaving and students saying or doing dumb things. I hope the internet is ready for the what fun will cross our paths!

I also hope to look into all things crypto this year, and I very much look forward to engaging with #leofinance. I’ve been following and investing into traditional stocks for many years, but feel the world is changing and I’d like to roar with this community.

I've also been reading some of the #informationwars post, and love the idea of engaging with this group too.

So what am I up to on a Friday afternoon?
Procrastination.

That seems to be the key part of my holidays - which stretch out until January 28th.
After much delay, I actually finished my marking for the holidays yesterday, and I'm pleased to say my students absolutely nailed 'The Crucible'. I feel like the group have a really strong understanding of the demands of the module we completed, and the skills they have gained in putting together video presentations would blow you away.

But that leads me back to my Friday afternoon. I'm about to start re-reading Margaret Atwood's novel, 'Hag-Seed'. It's a really interesting re-telling of Shakespeare's 'The Tempest'. This will be my third year teaching it, and the truth is, on every reading, the novel grows and evolves - and as my understanding of 'The Tempest' has deepened, I find Atwood's cleverness all the more delightful.

The opening pages invite you to a metafictional place; where you are reading from a playscript, rather than prose. It mirrors the metatheatrical nature of Shakespeare's text. The storm that's offered up in those pages certainly mirrors the weather outside this week. I've been meaning to mow the lawns, perhaps tomorrow?

Per il 2022 ho deciso che mi piacerebbe dedicarmi al blog. È qualcosa di nuovo e diverso e mi sento un po' avventuroso. Ho appena creato quel meme sopra su un generatore di meme. Sto già entrando in una nuova mia nuova ambizione e sto imparando nuove abilità!

Amo il linguaggio e il potere delle parole. Che fortuna allora, che sono un insegnante di inglese. Attualmente vivo sulla costa settentrionale del NSW in Australia. Sono circa cinque ore a nord di Sydney. È un bel posto per insegnare, e spero che verrai nel viaggio del 2022 con me.

Nel 2022 spero di condividere con voi come appare il mio mondo di insegnamento, cosa sto insegnando e di condividere risorse e suggerimenti pedagogici. Altre volte vorrei solo l'opportunità di scrivere, di poter avere qualche minuto della mia giornata tutto per me. Spesso ho storie così divertenti o colleghi che si comportano male e studenti che dicono o fanno cose stupide. Spero che Internet sia pronto per il divertimento che incrocerà le nostre strade!

Spero anche di esaminare tutto ciò che riguarda le criptovalute quest'anno e non vedo l'ora di impegnarmi con #leofinance. Seguo e investo in azioni tradizionali da molti anni, ma sento che il mondo sta cambiando e mi piacerebbe ruggire con questa community.

Allora cosa faccio di venerdì pomeriggio?

Questa sembra essere la parte fondamentale delle mie vacanze, che si protraggono fino al 28 gennaio.
Dopo molto ritardo, ieri ho effettivamente terminato la mia valutazione per le vacanze e sono lieto di dire che i miei studenti hanno assolutamente inchiodato "The Crucible". Sento che il gruppo ha una profonda comprensione delle esigenze del modulo che abbiamo completato e le abilità che hanno acquisito nel mettere insieme le presentazioni video ti lascerebbero a bocca aperta.

Ma questo mi riporta al mio venerdì pomeriggio. Sto per iniziare a rileggere il romanzo di Margaret Atwood, 'Hag-Seed'. È una rivisitazione davvero interessante de "La tempesta" di Shakespeare. Questo sarà il mio terzo anno di insegnamento, e la verità è che, ad ogni lettura, il romanzo cresce e si evolve - e man mano che la mia comprensione di "The Tempest" si è approfondita, trovo l'intelligenza di Atwood ancora più deliziosa.

Le pagine iniziali ti invitano a un luogo metafisico; dove stai leggendo da un copione, piuttosto che da una prosa. Rispecchia la natura metateatrale del testo di Shakespeare. La tempesta offerta in quelle pagine rispecchia certamente il tempo fuori questa settimana. Avevo intenzione di falciare i prati, forse domani?
