Hello, Splinterlands Warriors! How are you doing? By the way, the price of HIVE keeps dropping, but isn't that an opportunity to increase your Hive Power?
Today, I want to share the Battle of the Day—a nerve-racking match filled with unexpected moments. Picture this: the rulesets were Need for Speed and Tis But Scratches, with a mana cap of only 14 points. The available elements were Water, Life, Death, and Dragon. Sounds exciting, right? So, what strategy did I use?!
Starting Strategy
For this intense battle, I knew that a team capable of delivering speed and efficiency within the tight mana cap would be the key to victory. Leading the team, I chose Quix the Devious (lv 3), whose ability to reduce the enemy’s speed and ranged attacks made him the perfect fit for a ruleset like Need for Speed. At the frontline stood the sturdy Pelacor Conjurer (lv 8), with high speed and the ability to reflect magic attacks. Supporting from the backline was Uraeus (lv 4), a versatile monster with a poison effect that kept constant pressure on the opponent. Vruz (lv 5) added deadly speed and Sneak attacks, while Naga Assassin (lv 6) enhanced the strategy with her exceptional speed and evasion abilities. Finally, Halfing Refugee (lv 3) joined as a surprise addition, leading the charge with her healing skills to sustain the team’s momentum. The average mana cost of these monsters was just 2 points.
On the other side, my opponent relied on a single powerhouse: DJINN OSHANNUS, supported by QUIX THE DEVIOUS (lv 3), TORRENT FIEND (lv 3), and VRUZ (lv 6).
Rounds 1 & 2: A Fiery Start
The battle kicked off with relentless attacks from both sides. But there was a major problem: my Sneak attacks often missed due to DJINN OSHANNUS' high speed. On the bright side, my team managed to take down TORRENT FIEND, but I lost HALFING REFUGEE to the opponent's counterattacks.
Rounds 3 & 4: Gradual Pressure
The opponent relied heavily on the resilience of DJINN OSHANNUS, and once again, many of my Sneak attacks missed. However, a pivotal moment came when URAEUS' poison began to take effect, slowly weakening DJINN OSHANNUS. Meanwhile, my PELACOR CONJURER was struggling to withstand the Cripple effect from the opponent’s attacks.
Round 5: A Narrow Victory
As the opponent’s VRUZ fell, its Martyr ability unexpectedly powered up DJINN OSHANNUS, making it even faster and deadlier. But this is where my team's numbers came into play. Even though DJINN OSHANNUS dodged attacks repeatedly, the poison from URAEUS and the relentless strikes from my monsters ultimately took it down. I secured the win by leveraging the greater number of monsters I had on the field.

Conclusions and Lessons
The opponent clearly banked on the strength of DJINN OSHANNUS, utilizing the Martyr effect from VRUZ to enhance its abilities. This strategy almost worked, as DJINN OSHANNUS' high speed made my attacks miss frequently. However, my advantage lay in having more monsters. Although individually they weren’t very strong, their combined efforts ultimately overwhelmed DJINN OSHANNUS.
Key Strategy Insights
Low Mana Cap, More Monsters
When mana cap is low, fielding more monsters can be an effective strategy, especially if they have supportive abilities like Poison and Sneak.Poison is a Deadly Weapon
The poison effect from URAEUS was crucial in this match, slowly wearing down a tanky monster like DJINN OSHANNUS.Team Balance Matters
While the opponent focused on a single strong monster, I found that a balanced team offered more attack opportunities and versatility.
