Во время похода 1956 г. Владимир Алексеевич исполняет свою детскую мечту. Он находит исток реки Вори. В книге идет трогательное описание любви деревенского мальчика к реке и воспоминания о том, как они детьми хотели найти ее начало, но оно было далеко-далеко и никак им это не удавалось.
During the 1956 campaign, Vladimir fulfilled his childhood dream. He finds the source of the Vory River. The book contains a touching description of a village boy's love for the river and memories of how they wanted to find its source as children, but it was far, far away and they never succeeded.

"Четыре дубовых венца образовали прямоугольный сруб длиною метра полтора, шириною в метр. Черный поблескивающий сруб до краев был наполнен водой. Но я узнал об этом, только дотронувшись до воды ладонью. Она была так светла, что ее как бы не было. Выливаясь из сруба, вода обрела голос и видимость, потому что начинала переливаться, течь, быть ручьем."
Видимо кто-то из местных оставил маленькую чашечку, ставшую героиней моих простых натюрмортов. На привале я открыла книгу и еще раз перечитала упоминание деревни и реки в книге.
"Four oak wreaths formed a rectangular log cabin about a metre and a half long and a metre wide. The black glistening log cabin was filled to the brim with water. But I only knew it when I touched the water with the palm of my hand. It was so light that it was as if it had never been there. Pouring out of the log cabin, the water gained voice and visibility because it began to overflow, to flow, to be a stream."
Apparently someone from the locals had left the little cup that became the heroine of my simple still life paintings. I opened the book in my halt and reread the mention of the village and the river in the book once more.
Интересно, думал ли Владимир Алексеевич, что чтение его повести станет таким увлекательным квестом для следующих поколений. Мне доставляет радость находить и сходства, и различия между книгой и тем, что мне удается обнаружить во время своих вылазок.
Одновременно чувствуется быстротечность времени и что-то такое, что никогда не изменится. Этот дуализм живет в покосившихся двориках и песчинках размытой дороги, гуляет ветром меж березовых рощ и утекает вместе с реками в далекие края владимирских проселок
I wonder if Vladimir Alekseyevich thought that reading his story would be such a fascinating quest for future generations. It gives me joy to find both similarities and differences between the book and what I manage to discover during my forays.
At the same time there is a sense of the transience of time and something that will never change. This dualism lives in lopsided courtyards and grains of sand on washed-out roads, the wind strolls between birch groves and flows together with rivers into the distant lands of Vladimir's country lanes

Да и не только владимирских. А всех уголков нашей необъятной родины.
And not just in Vladimir. But all corners of our immense motherland.
