The Bloodlust ability initially belonged only to gladiator cards, this was the big difference that these cards had and also one of the reasons why they could not be used in ranked battles since they were very powerful and even today players can only use 1 or 2 gladiator cards depending on the rules in the battle and the summoner you use.
With the arrival of the Chaos Legion edition, a new monster with the ability arrived, Grum Flameblade. This was the first monster that had the Bloodlust ability that was not from the gladiator edition and it is one of my main choices as a tank when I use the fire deck in my battles.
Grum Flameblade is a monster with melee attack and it has 4 abilities: Bloodlust, Void Armor, Void and Giant Killer.
With the Bloodlust ability, Grum Flameblade will gain +1 to all of his stats when he defeats an enemy monster, meaning he will gain +1 attack, +1 speed, +1 health, and +1 armor. This ability is only activated when Grum Flameblade deals the final blow to the enemy monster.
With the Void Armor ability, Grum Flameblade's armor will be able to block magical attacks, meaning that magical attacks will only be able to cause damage to Grum Flameblade's health when his armor is destroyed.
With the Void ability, Grum Flameblade will only receive half the damage against magical attacks.
With the Giant Killer ability, Grum Flameblade will cause double damage against monsters that have 10 or more mana.
To demonstrate how powerful the Bloodlust ability is, I will use the battle below as an example.
See the Battle
This isn't the best example of a battle with the Bloodlust ability, but if it weren't for it, I would have been defeated, not victorious. This is a battle that happened in Brawls on a Gold Foil Fray, and since I didn't get any Gold Foil gladiator cards yet, I had to use the cards I had and decided that Grum Flameblood would be the best choice for the battle since my opponent would probably use Gladiator cards in this battle, and I was right since he had Katrelba Gobson.
During most of the battle, the Bloodlust ability was not useful because Grum Flameblood was unable to land the final blow on my opponent's monsters, but he is still a great choice because he has a large amount of health and armor, so even if I can't make him more powerful with the Bloodlust ability, my opponent will still have a great deal of difficulty defeating him.
The most important part of the battle was when Grum Flameblood had to face Katrelba Gobson at the end.
My Grum Flameblade only had 3 health, but he managed to land the final blow on my opponent's Thanalorian Blade monster and activated the Bloodlust ability, so Grum Flameblood now has 7 attack, 2 speed, 4 health, and 1 armor. The big difference was that he gained +1 armor and +1 health because he was able to resist Katrelba Gobson's attacks and defeat her.
It was a very difficult battle and Grum Flameblade only had 1 life and 1 attack chance to emerge victorious and in the end that's what happened, but if it weren't for the Blood ability I would have known defeat.
