Whenever the Briar Patch rule is in battle, I avoid using monsters with melee attacks because I know they will be at a great disadvantage in battle. In my last Brawl, I had a battle like this and in addition to the Briar Patch rule, there was also the Noxious Fumes rule, another rule that I hate fighting because it can easily defeat my monsters.
See the Battle
There were a total of 3 rules in Battle: Noxious Fumes, Aimless and Briar Patch.
In the Noxious Fumes rule, all monsters start the battle poisoned and they will receive 2 damage at the beginning of each round from the second round onwards.
In the Aimless rule, all monsters receive the Scattershot ability, monsters with the Scattershot ability will randomly attack the enemy monster.
In the Briar Patch rule, all monsters receive the Briar Patch ability. Monsters with the Briar Patch ability deal 2 physical damage to enemy monsters that deal melee damage to them.
As I mentioned before, melee monsters are at a huge disadvantage against the Briar Patch rule, so for this battle I used the following cards:
As a summoner, I selected Kelya Frendul. She will increase the speed and armor of my monsters by +1, so she will be very useful in increasing the chances of my monsters dodging attacks and attacking first. In addition, the armor will be useful against melee and ranged attacks.
In the first position, I selected Djinn Oshannus. He is a monster with a magical attack that has a lot of life, so he will be a great defense in this position. In addition, he has the Void ability, which makes him only receive half the damage against magical attacks, so he will be an even better defense since the chances of my opponent using monsters with magical attacks are high.
In the second position I selected Tide Biter, he is a monster with melee attack but is immune to the Thorns ability since he has the Reflection Shield ability, so there is no problem using him when there is the Briar Patch rule.
In the third position I selected Spirit Hoarder, he is a monster with magic attack and will be useful healing my backline with his Triage ability.
In the fourth position I selected Igor Darkspear, he is a monster with ranged attack and has the Stun ability.
In the fifth position I selected Angelic Mandarin, he is a monster with ranged attack and just like the Spirit Hoarder, he will heal the backline with the Triage ability.
In the sixth position I selected Torrent Fiend, he is a monster with melee attack but will not be able to attack in this position.
My strategy in this battle was to use monsters that do not have melee attacks so that they would not be affected by the Briar Patch rule and to use monsters with the ability Triage so that I could survive longer against the Noxious Fumes rule.
It was not an easy battle, but with this strategy I was able to survive the Noxious Fumes rule for several rounds and with the help of Djinn Oshannus defending in the first position and my monsters with the ability Triage I managed to win the battle, but I was close to being defeated.
