Growing my Card Collection in Splinterlands Opening Packs

in Olio di Balena4 days ago

Today is the day to expand my Chaos Legion collection in Splinterlands. As I mentioned in other posts, I chose the Chaos Legion collection to be my first collection of max-level cards and the reason was because it is the cheapest edition currently in Splinterlands, so my costs will not be that high and it is a very useful and powerful collection in the Modern and Wild formats.

To expand my Chaos Legion collection, I have the option of buying the cards on the market or buying packs and opening them. The best option is to buy the cards on the market because that way I don't depend on luck and because I will probably spend less since most of the time the cards I get in the packs will be of a lower value than the price of the pack.

My main focus is to buy the cards on the market because it is more efficient, but I like opening packs in the game and so sometimes I buy some and open them just to test my luck and have fun. Today is one of those days and I decided to go to Hive Engine and buy 5 Chaos Legion packs to test my luck.

Each Chaos Legion pack costs 0.819 Swap.Hive on Hive Engine, so buying 5 of them will cost me 4.09 Swap.Hive which is the equivalent of $2.08 considering the current price of Hive.

After buying the Chaos Legion packs I just need to transfer them to my Splinterlands account and open them.

Remember to always use Alchemy Potions and Legendary Potions to increase the chances of winning Gold Foils and Legendary Cards.

  • Alchemy Potions increase the chances of the player receiving Gold Foils cards.

  • Legendary Potions increase the chances of the player receiving Legendary cards.

1 potion is used for each card in the pack, so since I'm going to open 5 packs, that means 25 cards, so I'll need to use 25 Alchemy potions and 25 Legendary potions.

My luck this time was terrible because besides not getting any legendary cards, I also didn't get any Gold Foil cards, so I lost money by opening these 5 packs.

As I mentioned before, most of the time opening packs will result in a loss, but I still like opening them because it's fun and you never know when luck will knock on your door and you'll get a Gold Foil legendary card. Unfortunately, I haven't had that luck so far, but I'll still keep opening packs sometimes while I increase my Chaos Legion card collection and I hope to be lucky next time.

My best acquisition in these packs was the Cursed Windeku card, it's one of my favorites in the Chaos Legion death deck and this time I got 2 of them in the packs, so they'll be very useful in my collection.

The reason I like Cursed Windeku is because of his abilities, he has Thorns, Heal and Slow.

  • The Thorns ability makes Cursed Windeku deal 2 physical damage to the monster that attacks him with a melee attack.

  • The Heal ability makes Cursed Windeku heal himself for 1/3 of his maximum health 1x per round.

  • The Slow ability makes Cursed Windeku slow down all enemy monsters by -1 while he is in battle.

Cursed Windeku is a great defense for battle and his mana cost is only 6, so I have no doubt that he will help me a lot in my journey in Splinterlands.
