Oggi é il 25 aprile, una data assai nota per il popolo italiano come simbolo della vittoria e della liberazione contro il governo fascista avvenuta nel 1945, tutti quanti conoscono bene questa storia ed é proprio per questo motivo che ho pensato di portarvi qualcosa di più interessante che forse non tutti sanno.
Infatti il 25 aprile é una data importante anche per la comunità scientifica e aerospaziale, ci dobbiamo spostare avanti negli anni, nel 1983, quando il Pioneer 10 attraversò l'orbita del pianeta plutone.

Il Pioneer 10 é una sonda spaziale statunitense lanciata nel 3 marzo 1972 per una missione organizzata della NASA, la partenza avvenne da Cape Canaveral in Florida e divenne molto famosa per essere stata la prima sonda spaziale a superare la velocità di fuga dal sistema solare, ovvero a riuscire ad allontanarsi indefinitamente dal suo campo gravitazionale, ma anche per aver completato la prima missione verso Giove grazie alla quale abbiamo ottenuto moltissime fotografie del pianeta e siamo riusciti a studiarne l'ambiente.

Le comunicazioni con la sonda furono completamente perdute nel gennaio del 2003 quando la distanza con la terra era stimata attorno alle 80UA, circa 12 miliardi di chilometri, ora la sonda prosegue indisturbata allontanandosi sempre più dal sistema solare per raggiungere lo spazio interstellare medio in direzione della stella Aldebaran, una gigante arancione posizionata nella costellazione del toro.

Esiste anche un film a riguardo dal titolo "Jupiter Odyssey" fatto dall'Ames Research Center e prodotto da George Van Valkenburg Production uscito nel 1973 che parla appunto della sonda Pioneer 10 e della sorella Pioneer 11.

Una storia a dir poco interessante, chissà quali altre sorprese ci riserverà ancora il nostro infinito universo...

The Pioneer 10 is a US space probe launched in March 3, 1972 for an organized NASA mission, the departure took place from Cape Canaveral in Florida and became very famous for being the first space probe to exceed the escape speed from the solar system, or to be able to move away indefinitely from its gravitational field, but also to have completed the first mission to Jupiter thanks to which we obtained many photographs of the planet and we were able to study its environment.

Communications with the probe were completely lost in January 2003 when the distance to the earth was estimated at around 80UA, about 12 billion kilometers, now the probe continues undisturbed, moving further and further away from the solar system to reach the average interstellar space in the direction of the Aldebaran star, an orange giant positioned in the constellation of Taurus.
