Meriput Slinger

Greetings, fellow Splinterlands enthusiasts! Today, I’m excited to share my thoughts on the Meriput Slinger, a rare card from the Death splinter that has quickly become a staple in my lineups. After flipping 30 Major Cards, I was thrilled to add this powerful ranged unit to my collection. Let’s dive into its abilities, strategies, and how it can help you dominate your opponents in the arena!

Flipping Time

Card Overview:

Stats

Unit: Death
Rarity: Rare
Mana Cost: 7
Attack Type: Ranged
Stats at Max Level: 4 Ranged Damage, 3 Speed, 7 Health

Abilities:

  • Impede: Reduces the target's speed, making it easier for your units to hit them.
  • Slow: Decreases the speed of all enemy units, giving your team an edge in landing hits and attacking first.
  • Reflection Shield: Protects against damage from abilities like Return Fire, Magic Reflect, and Thorns, ensuring Meriput Slinger can attack safely.
  • Redemption: When defeated, deals damage to all enemy units, potentially turning the tide in tightly matched battles.

Best Strategies for Meriput Slinger

  1. Slowing Down the Opponent: With both Impede and Slow, Meriput Slinger is a powerful asset for controlling the battlefield's pace. By reducing the speed of enemy units, your team gains a significant advantage, allowing slower allies to hit faster enemies. This makes it especially useful in matches with the Reverse Speed ruleset, where lower speed is beneficial.

  2. Positioning for Protection: Place Meriput Slinger behind tanks or units with Taunt to keep it safe while it whittles down enemies from a distance. This setup allows it to benefit from its Reflection Shield, staying protected against abilities like Return Fire that might target it when it attacks.

  3. Capitalizing on Redemption: When Meriput Slinger is about to fall, its Redemption ability can deal an additional blow to the enemy. It works particularly well against opponents with low health, making it an excellent choice in Equalizer rulesets where all units share the same health value. Pair it with Amplify to make its Redemption even more impactful.

Potential Weaknesses

  1. High Mana Cost: With a 7 mana cost, Meriput Slinger is not the cheapest option, which means you’ll need to carefully consider its inclusion in battles with low mana caps. It’s best suited for matches with a moderate to high mana pool, where its abilities and stats can shine.

  2. Vulnerability to Magic Damage: Despite its strong ranged attack and Reflection Shield ability, Meriput Slinger has no inherent protection against direct magic damage. Be cautious when facing opponents with strong magic attackers, and consider pairing it with a summoner or ally that provides Void or Magic Reflect for extra coverage.

Recommended Lineups

  1. Death Splinter with Cursed Windeku: Combining Meriput Slinger with Cursed Windeku’s Thorns ability makes for a powerful frontline. Windeku can absorb attacks and deal thorn damage, while Meriput Slinger slows down the opposition and chips away from behind.

  2. Amplify Strategies: To boost Meriput Slinger’s Redemption ability, pair it with cards that have the Amplify skill, such as Ancient Lich or Soul Strangler. This will maximize the damage output when Meriput Slinger is defeated, turning its loss into an opportunity to swing the battle in your favor.

  3. Reverse Speed Ruleset: With its moderate speed, Meriput Slinger can become a key player in Reverse Speed battles. Combine it with slower but resilient allies like Dark Ha’on and Riftwing to make the most of the ruleset while dealing heavy ranged damage to faster enemies.

Final Thoughts

Meriput Slinger is a versatile and strategic card in the Death splinter, offering a potent mix of speed control, protection, and endgame impact through Redemption. Its ability to slow enemies and deliver powerful ranged attacks makes it a valuable asset in many lineups, especially when facing opponents that rely on speed. However, be mindful of its mana cost and potential vulnerabilities to magic-heavy teams. With the right support and positioning, Meriput Slinger can play a pivotal role in turning the tide of battle in your favor.
