One of the problems most African countries face is corruption. I don’t know why African leaders hate supporting their people, because I’ve been in Europe for quite some time now, and one of the obvious things I've noticed is that the government supports its citizens. I know they are not perfect, but when you see something better you can easily identify it and the truth is they are better.
Each candidate for president or for any government office in Nigeria always makes stupid promises that are possible in reality but when they get to the office, the story changes, and that has become a major challenge in the country. Some of these people try so hard to get to the office and when they get to the office, it’s always the same story, and most times it goes from bad to worse. It is obvious that resources are not our problem That corruption is
When people in the country are complaining about corruption but it is not only the government‘s fault, people are now making corruption seem like a norm in the country and it is now getting from bad to terrible. The economy is getting bad and people's decision-making is getting bad. Instead of people going for things that are legit things that don’t have anything to do with corruption people choose to lean towards something that is illegal rather than doing something that is legal.
The government creates a system in which corruption can thrive, it is done when you make people suffer and lack basic things. In this condition, it will be easy for corruption to thrive in such a system, but according to stats, we have countries that are very poor, but they are not corrupt and they are not even in the top 10 most of country in the world. The truth is corruption is one of those things that is very difficult to clean up when it is in the system.
I know the major question is what we can do to clean up this mess and what we can do is start from the government because they are the leader and people look up to them, if the government can start with themselves by dealing with the corruption in the high offices in the country, it will be easy to deal with the citizens. You can’t cut the cancer away by starting from the bottom, you have to start from the top.
Some of these Western world's have their own fair share in time past but someone influenced and changed the course of event and others bought into it. We need a man who would see beyond himself. It will take a lot of shakings to arrive at a government system that works. Just one man put it all to sleep. Again, it won't happen without tremendous shakings.
