Hi Friends,

Before Covid broke out in 2019, there was very rare of remote job concept and it was all work from office only, but, as soon as Covid started, most of the companies started asking employees to work from home or work remotely and that gave a new idea to the management as they started thinking much on remote work model and when Covid got under control, they started calling the employees back.

Inspite of this, many companies thought of a new model called as Hybrid model where in, the employees work from office for certain days in a week or month or a quarter and remaining days, they can work from home.

While remote work model has it's own benefits and also some drawbacks as well and so are the work from office or onsite job.

Let's get into the details of each of the pros and cons.

Pros of Work from home or remote work:

Work from home or remote job is something we all love because of the comfortless of working from our premises and also avoiding going thru the hectic traffic while commuting to office and also we can take care of family needs however short period of time they require.

The remote jobs also offer freedom of working from anywhere and also make use of the evolving technologies and tools.

The remote jobs also gives flexibility to employees without having to adhere to strict 9 to 5 kind of timings and allows people to balance their work and personal tasks.

The remote work model also saves money for both employee and employer. While employee can save the time, cost of commuting (besides saving time of commutation) and it also saves the cost of infrastructure to be setup by employer, maintaining the office setup (like cleaning, food etc.)

Cons:

While it will be fun working from home and have that comfortless, sometimes it can also create loneliness, it may also be challenging with regards to internet if there are issues with the same.

It can also be having issues with regards to distractions at home by kids or visitors like relatives and all and even the unwanted sounds from vehicles moving outside the premises.

Another major issue with work from home or remote job is the extension of work without creating a border line like in case of office work, where we will work for a fixed time frame and when we move out, it's just out of our mind, but the same cannot be done when we work remotely.

Pros of working from office:

First and foremost thing with work from office is the improved communication and all the team members will work in One place and can always clarify issue by sitting in meeting room.

The work from office will be more structured as there won't be any distraction like incase of detractions we may face at home.

Unlike in case of issues with software, internet issues we may have while work from home, we don't see any such issues while working from office as there will be teams working on such things in office and it improves the efficiency.

Work from office builds a sense of routine and make us work in professional way.

Cons:

Commutation to office is the biggest challenge we face in most of the cities owing to growing population and growing workforce.

This kind of work also leads to burn out in employees as the work life balance will not be there as there will be fixed and mandatory schedules will be there.

Conflicts of interests due to office politics and discourage the employees and may lead to change in jobs.

Work from office, due to it's nature of job, may risk employees with their health as they have to spend more time with commutation and then cope up with office pressure leading to health issues.

Employees have to bear extra costs with setting up infrastructure and maintaining office staff for fulfilling the needs of employees.

So, both, work from home and working from onsite have their own pros and cons and if you ask me personally, I would like to work from the comfort of home although I may get a bit less salary compared to working from office and get more stress and spend extra time in commutation.

What do you guys say?

of course, remote jobs were available before the lockdown. However, people got to know them more during the lockdown.
Both have advantages and disadvantages. It is up to individuals to choose whichever works for them.

Thanks for sharing.

Definitely, based on our needs, we can select remote or onsite.
Thanks.
