Can we imagine life without Social Media? Hell no, we need One or the other social media apps for our day to day life whether it's connecting with our family and friends or looking for a job or want to advertise on marketing stuffs, oh, it's very hard to imagine without using the social media these days.

When we talk about social media, the immediate social media platforms which comes in-front of our eyes are Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, Youtube and so on.

As we know, these are all the apps we use (or should I say most of us use) on daily basis whether to share the files, or be in touch with family or watch some content of our favorite movies, songs or just some random videos such as shorts, we surly depend on One or the other apps mentioned here.

Frankly speaking, I am not a big fan of popular social media we have such as Facebook, Instagram and all, I use Facebook very rarely, I use Whatsapp just for some video calling or sharing files, I use twitter for mostly to get in touch with my Hive blogging related stuffs or to check on updates of Splinterlands and Finance.

But, I do use other social media sites/apps such as LinkedIn for my job search stuff or just to keep in touch with my present or previous company friends and being in IT field, I think it's very important to keep an eye on updates of the tools and technologies we use and that's where LinkedIn comes handy to me.

Banking Apps are other important Social Media for me as the life has become more and more digital these days and obviously the days of standing in long queues to withdraw cash to pay for our day to day needs are long gone with digital banking and social media is always there in that, isn't it?

Another social media site which is commonly used by people is YouTube. Youtube is used by me for mostly searching on learning tools and technologies as part of my job and I do use it to publish videos/shorts of my kids to showcase their talent.

I do edit the videos myself using some Third party tools and publish on YouTube.

Twitter, as I mentioned above, is another social media site I use just to update on my blogging and gaming and also to get updates on current affairs and news about the sports, politics and other updates.

Too much of anything is bad for anyone. As long as we keep a border and doesn't cross it, everything will be OK for us.

Some of the Pros for social media as for as I am concerned are as below:

Connectivity:

When you have your friends and family at different part of the World or even in different places within the same country or same state for that matter, it becomes very important that, we keep connected with our near and dear Ones and social media such as Whatsapp and facebook helps us to just have a video call, or to share updates of the progress of our kids or share pictures of the festival celebration.

Business Opportunities:

Social media is useful when we use it in right way and business opportunities are something we need to look out and sites/apps like Facebook/Twitter play vital role and for me technical/technology related stuff is important as a professional and LinkedIn plays an important role.

Creativity and Expression of Talent:

Social media apps such as Youtube, Facebook, Instagram are a great source of inspiration for younger generation to showcase their talent through creation of videos, shorts or designs of images or even to share the information in the form of sentences and all the apps mentioned above will be the best starters.

For me, as I said, I don't use most of these and few of those I use, are all related to sharing the videos and shorts of my kids.

Cons:

As the good things the social media brings, it also brings the bad things and I would like to share those as below:

Increased Screen timing and addiction:

Personally speaking, I have 2 kids, both boys. The elder is 12 years and watching gaming youtubers is his favorite thing and once he sits, he won't get up until someone has to remind him about his work, studies and all.

On contrary, my Second son, is totally different, he is just 6 and his favorite thing is art and craft and he uses limited screen time and most of his times will be to check the craft works and try to prepare the same.

So, why I gave these 2 examples is to just convey that social media can be a good as well as bad thing and as in case of my elder son, screen time and addiction are always gonna affect unless we keep an eye on that.

Privacy Concerns:

We share stuffs on social media because those are made for that kind of activities, but, the scammers/thieves will be looking out for such information and knowingly or unknowingly if we share private information, we may get into trouble if the same information reaches hands of a fraudulent person.

The list will go on if we keep talking about the Pros and Cons, but it's our responsibility to keep absorbing good things and reject the things which are going to affect our life or life of our near and dear Ones.

In this short life, we need to be socialized, but at the same time, we need to be careful of the effects of the overdoing of something and keep away from that.
