Splinterlands: Slowly Building a Passive Income of DEC

After having added a Maxxed Legendary Summoner of the Chaos Legion set to my collection, finally my passive DEC income has started to take a form.

By renting out my cards from the Rebellion set, a few rare ones I've decided to keep from the Chaos Legion set (for now), and the beautiful Possibilus the Wise, I've managed to bring my DEC inflow to about 35 DEC per day.

rental income

This is a good start, with an APR approaching 12%.

To this I must then add what I get from my SPS, which I also delegate on the market.

From my 8800 or so SPS I get around 130 DEC each week, and thus another 18.5 DEC per day on top of that from card rentals.

sps rental

In total, therefore, at the moment my small income generates almost 55 DEC, which I am adding to those I am currently accumulating from selling all the cards I no longer need, due to the very low values at which I would otherwise have to rent them.

My DEC stash at the moment exceeds 63,000 DEC and I am considering how to best spend it.

DEC balance

I have already spent some of it on the purchase of Possibilus the Wise, but the Chaos Legion set is getting closer and closer to rotate out of the Modern format, and I fear I will see its value plummet well before I have managed to make enough money from renting the cards I own.

The same goes for the Riftwatchers mini-set: at the time of the rotation, scheduled for next year, I expect to see the value of these cards drop even further, so I would like to avoid them.

As for the previous sets, there the problem is that there isn't much demand for their rental... a shame, because there are a lot of strong cards at really low prices and I would have gladly added to my collection some of those cards that, in past years, I had often considered as unaffordable.

What is left then?

All that remains is the Rebellion set, the latest released, with a more limited print run than the Chaos Legion set and with at least a couple more years ahead of it in the Modern format.

Again, there's a small catch though: when the conflicts come to an end, on the market will arrive many cards from this set that are currently locked and unavailable.

As @tarabh suggested me that might be the right time to do some shopping, whereas now I would be risking paying too much for them...

That is why I decided to take a more cautious approach:

  • unless there are unmissable bargains I will not buy any more cards from the Chaos Legion set, but rather will continue to sell all the ones I cannot rent at a good price;
  • I will not buy cards from the older sets, because I see no reason why their demand should increase;
  • I will buy cards from the Rebellion set that I find reasonably cheap, but only using part of my budget;
  • I will save the rest of the DEC for when the conflicts will be completed, because I hope to be able to do even better deals at that time.

If all goes well I might be able to build up a nice passive income from cards that won't be as easy to get as those in the Chaos Legion set.

That's the hope, but week by week I will evaluate whether to make small adjustments in order to achieve my goal as soon as possible :)

  • salvo affari imperdibili non acquisterò altre carte del set Chaos Legion, ma anzi continuerò a vendere tutte quelle che non posso noleggiare ad un buon prezzo;
  • non acquisterò carte dei set più vecchi, perchè non vedo motivi per cui la loro richiesta dovrebbe aumentare;
  • acquisterò le carte del set Rebellion che troverò a buon mercato, ma utilizzando solo parte del mio budget;

@arc7icwolf wow my dear friend, You are doing very well , I am very happy to see you at that stage,
I have a question if you dont mind , I am a beginner I buy spell book week ago , Now Suggest me what I need to do , Which card is better for me , Suggest some better card for me to rent that my win ratio is better , This season I played some matches few days ago , I get some glint and now I am in bronze 1 rank but I want to get the higher rank as I can , You will be very thankful for this kind of act.

Your beginner friend @mrdani12

Hi! The best cards to rent are the ones from the Reward set and the Chaos Legion one: they are very strong but very cheap, so you can rent some summoners (like Kelya Frendul, Obsidian and Thaddius Brood) and a lot of powerful cards you can play with these summoners.

As a beginner you could focus on the Nature element summoner Obsidian (which gives +1 magic attack to all your creatures) and Nature creatures with magic attacks: this is a well known combination that works very well.

You can also consider Thaddius Brood (Death element summoner) and Cursed Windeku: if you rent them at level 5 you will easily climb above Silver, as heal is a very strong ability which at the lowest levels is very tough to defeat.

Lastly, Kelya Frendul (Water element summoner) is very strong in combination with Djinn Oshannus (a legendary from the Reward set), backed up by attackers with sneak (Uraeus and Pelacor Bandit) and opportunity (Deeplurker).

If you rent these cards at a good level, you will climb easily above Bronze I :)
