Los POAPs (Proof of Attendance Protocol) son un nuevo tipo de NFT (en forma de insignia) que surgen con la idea de comprobar la asistencia a eventos físicos que se fueron luego expandiendo poco a poco también a los eventos virtuales. Debido a sus características, ya que son además tokens no fungibles que contienen un identificador único, se estimula su uso para premiar comportamientos y otorgar regalos a personas que realizan ciertas acciones en cierto momento determinado. Los POAPs pueden ser, como los NFTs, minteados en cualquier blockchain y con cualquier moneda escalable para su tokenizado, pero tuvieron su inicio en la red de Ethereum y debido a problemas de costos de transacción fueron trasladados a Gnosis, la blockchain de la criptomoneda xDai, donde ahora cualquier usuario puede crear y distribuir sus POAPs de manera gratuita.
The POAPs (Proof of Attendance Protocol) are a new type of NFT (in the form of a badge) that arose with the idea of proving attendance at physical events that were then gradually expanded to virtual events as well. Due to their characteristics, since they are also non-fungible tokens containing a unique identifier, their use is encouraged to reward behaviors and award gifts to people who perform certain actions at a certain time. In voting systems, as well as in elections, POAPs are already being used by different decentralized organizations (DAOs) for decision making in autonomous governance models, using this technology to represent a unique voter or user on the blockchain, allowing not only the leaders of a project to vote on the future actions of the project, but also giving the possibility to the followers of the project.

Las empresas Acredible y Platzi ya han sido dos de las primeras en implementar esta tecnología en su modelo de negocio para nuevos cursos y rutas de aprendizaje.
The greatest innovation with this type of NFT has been in the education sector, completely supplanting the traditional way of verifying courses through certificates with the use of POAPs that validate the real representation and participation of the trainees, creating a unique identification item that resides in the blockchain in a public way.
