Day 25 - Can you talk to someone while you journal?

I am one of those people. The ones that strike up a conversation or ask a question while you're writing or working at your computer. You're clearly busy, but for some reason my thoughts are out of my mouth before I assess the situation. I'll apologize or back track once I've realized what I've done, but many times whoever I interrupted can keep working and chat with me too.

This is not a skill I have. I've tried. Once I start focusing on writing I lose myself in the words like I've jumped into the deep end of my thoughts. The rest of the world fades to a fuzzy blur. This is one of the reasons I wait to find time when I can journal alone. It feels rude to tune others out as if I'm ignoring them when really I'm somewhere else.

If you have this extraordinary skill, how do you not lose your train of thought?

There are some things I can do while talking, but writing (by hand or typing) is not one of them.

If I want/need to focus I'll put my noise cancelling headphones on, play focus music from Brain.fm, and allow the world to disappear while I take on the task at hand.

Yes! I can't imagine life without my headphones.
