Senate meeting

After this bad trip, we woke up the next morning still tired from the trip. The hotel we stayed at served breakfast in the morning which I was excited about. We got down to eat and it was just a little bread with egg and a cup of tea.

I knew right there I would be quite hungry the rest of the day.

After this meeting we were to have in the day, we were supposed to leave for Accra and prepare for a 3 days conference in about 4 days time. So when we were leaving the hotel, we packed our bags and checked out. Luckily, we got a friend with a car to put our bags in and she gave us a ride to the venue for the event.

The university is a new one. Just 3 years old. But the infrastructure is amazing. On arrival at the venue, we met so many senators and aspirants who were seizing every opportunity to engage with everyone. That’s the reason most people come to these events, to push their ‘agenda’.

Meeting random people and creating conversation is something I’m still learning because of the position I find myself, but I’m not sure if I enjoy it. So after talking to a few familiar faces, my colleague and I went in to the hall to take our seats, sat for a little while and went out to take pictures.

Then we went back to socializing.

At the beginning of the senate meeting, we had some interactions and some female leaders brought up issues in their universities for us to discuss. One thing I like about these events is that everyone around holds a leadership position in their university so the inputs they give are always very interesting.

The meeting finally commenced and we had a summary of the earlier meeting that was held. ‘NEC’- National Executive Committee. This is made up of only SRC presidents of all universities. They usually sit to make the decisions and it’s summarized to the other leaders for our input and acceptance.

After that, there was an institutional report. This is where the presidents brief the senators on the activities and progress of the SRC in the various universities, as well as their challenges.

This session highlighted a lot of projects that these leaders were undertaking and the struggles we go through and the common challenge was inadequate funds.

It also made me realize that we are doing so well at our end but the pressure we get doesn’t make us realize that.

During that session though, I stepped out cause a number of aspirants wanted me to file their nomination forms.
When I got back in, it was time for the aspirants to introduce themselves.

It’s been over a month now and I really can’t remember what happened next.
I just remember the meeting ended and it was time to go and eat😌.

After the food, there was an excursion to attend and a lot happened on that excursion for which I would have to write an entirely new post.

The breakfast was okay please. That’s why you didn’t sleep at the meeting. 😂

Ahh🙄
What do you mean sleep at the meeting
Me??? Sleep?? Oh come on!!!

If the breakfast was heavy, I still wouldn’t sleep😌

Not many people are used to taking bread an tea as it isn't so heavy . This seemed like an interesting event even though you didn't know what was going on🤧😂

I’m always excited about attending but I end up being distracted and not finding out what the meeting was all about

Fret not. It happens sometimes. Good thing you gained the necessary exposure.

The event seems like a chill one. And the pictures look great.
But what was that breakfast??😅😅

Ask again😂
I finished eating and was still hungry
