A laptop is the thing I am the most reluctant to carry on with me when traveling.
Mainly because I'll have to pay an extra bag for the airplanes and then for security reasons as I will be leaving it in the room/hotel when out shooting. Also, easy to break when on the road (happened already) :)
I try to travel as lightweight as possible too :) My age speaking :)))

I'm not a young man either)) Six dozen have already been left behind ... :)
But I don't have such long trips. Also, my laptop is quite small. It's not very convenient for photo processing, but if I want, I can even carry it with me without leaving it in the room. I'm not good friends with a smartphone and Android ...))
However, a small case and spare memory cards will definitely not be superfluous.

The poet in you has spoken! :)
I don't like working with phones yet, too far away from what I expect from a camera device ;)

Maybe there are smartphones with cool cameras and manual shooting settings... but they are too expensive and then... I have a real camera, why spend extra money. The smartphone will still not have interchangeable lenses 🤣😂 😅

Probably we'll see soon interchangeable lens on phone cameras, who knows ;)
My mid-range Sony phone allows for full manual and it costed me less than EUR 200 (discounted price for renewing my carrier contract for two more years). Still expensive, in the richer Western EU countries I would get that for free instead.
I agree with you, I would spend on better photo equipment, but only if I have to. Challenging times...

I don't believe in small-diameter optics like on smart phones, even if it is replaceable. There are no miracles. Although... progress does not stand still))Technology, everything rests on them.
Yes... times are really difficult and I see no reason for them to become easier in the coming years (and in the Western EU too).
I assume that I already have everything to technically take a high-quality photo (I don't mean professional studio equipment). But the photo is not taken by a camera with a lens, but by a photographer. Here I have a lot to strive for. And hard times can only be an excuse))

True, true and true. I hope with my whole heart it all becomes better sooner, but the realist inside me speaks other things... :)

Everything ends sometime, and the dark stripes too))
I myself am more of a realist than an optimist.
But we will not be angry at the bad weather. There are things that we can change. You have to adapt to the rest or just live your life. Optimal... combine both approaches))
External reality is a reflection of ourselves. Life exists even in hell... :)
