Writing It Down!

in The Kingdom7 days ago

It's all been leading up to today.....January 1st, 2025!

I love the new year. And it's not really for any celebratory reasons either. I'm way to old these days to go and 'party'. No the first of the year is when I get to set my goals and write them down. I've been doing this for over a decade now and because of this January 1st goal setting, I've achieved pretty much every goal I've written down.

Obviously, there are some exceptions to the rule...But overall, when I take the time to plan out my year....I work towards these goals every day and usually hit them.

I say that and of course, I missed the mark on one of my goals from 2024...

So the first 2 I hit, which was a such a blessing. Especially what my life looked like 365 days ago....Nothing short of a miracle. But here comes the excuse....I didn't lose 25 lbs....I didn't gain anything either, but my health took a back seat. Which is never good...

So today, I got to writing down the personal goals I have for 2025 and like I mentioned...These are alway the most enjoyable times of the year for me because I really get to set things up for a big win or two...If I stay the course.

here they are:

1. Read, Devotions, Pray

I wrote about my spiritual goals a few days ago, so this goal kind of encompasses it. I will read through the bible again in 2025. Make sure I start and end my day with devotions. And have a much stronger prayer life. I'm pretty fired up for this, I want 2025 to be spirtually focused for myself and......

2. Family Growth

My family as well :)

I want to prioritize my children's well being. Get them more involved in activities with school, church and sports. But this growth within my family also plays a role in th first goal. That morning and evening devotion time, must be spent with my entire family. As well as the prayer life.

Huge for me to once again, put a spiritual touch on the next 365 days of the year!

3. Get Off Pills

I'm type 2 diabetic. And along with this disease, I also deal with high cholesterol. Which means I'm on 4 pills a day....3 metformin and 1 statin

This isn't healthy and it doesn't help me prolong my life or ability to grow with my family and God if my health continues to go down. So last year I set the goal to lose 25 pounds....That's part of this goal but the end desire is to get off my body's need for medication.

Eating better, working out, going for hikes, taking part in much more family oriented activities. The combination of these will hopefully allow me to revisit the need for medication. Pray for me :)

So I guess you can see a theme for 2025....

  1. God.
  2. Family.
  3. Health

And they all 'piggyback' off each other. I'll keep you guys updated throughout the year on how it's going but for now....The new list of goals is taped up right in front of my computer screen to help keep me accountable!

When we prioritize our financial goals sometimes our health takes a back seat. Time for me to watch my weight too 😀

Check out videos by Dr.Robert Lustig on fructose. They changed my health tremendously. I lost 25 pounds in about 6 months solely by cutting out sugar. I didn't even know I had 25 pounds to lose and was not "fat" at all.

I didn't even cut out carbs just sucrose (and therefore fructose).

interesting. i read Dr. Fung's book about carbs and fasting. Really helped my diet back a few years ago.

His theory is that it is actually the fructose (one half of the sucrose molecule) that causes all of the problems because the body doesn't have the enzymes to deal with it well. The simplest way to cut fructose is to cut sucrose.

It's not the most fun diet because sucrose is added to almost EVERYTHING, but it works and has lots of great benefits for diabetes (he is an endocrinologist).

going to check it out for sure. thanks!

If you don't want to wait to read just type in Robert Lustig on youtube and his stuff will pop up. He also did a show with Andrew Huberman

Walking is a huge bang for the buck for health. The weather might be prohibitive this time of year, but if you can make it work - walking almost always gives more than it takes.
It likely won't generate substantial fatigue or cause a metabolic crash like you might feel after a hard work out.

I’m also a fan of writing my goals down and I have done that already
I’m glad you have done that as well

great to see you still killing it my friend!
