The magic about B&W photos of animals

in Black And White3 years ago

Welcome to my 14th #monomad entry!

Has some of you already knows, I'm a passionate about animals, somehow connected with my "daytime" profession, and an unsatisfied pleasure seeker of perfection in photograph... And more precisely in black and white photography. The uniqueness ability of transmit the intensity of a simple way of looking, the inner eye glowing - somehow transmiting the holy characteristic of the living things, the strength of the form and shadows, it is in fact only "possible" without having the distracted and delusional colorful patterns "out of the equation". That said, it doesn't means that I don't like to capture things around me always in B&W mode, but I kind find much more rewarding for me.

Crossing daily with maybe ten or twenty small companion animals in my work doesn't traduces in the same number of photographs obtained, since for most cases, time is precious, and I'm not paid for taking this type of images of them...

This 14 year old canine was part of the Special Operations Group (police tactical unit) of Public Security Police (PSP), the national police force of Portugal. By this time, his care-taker and ex-partner took him to the Neurology consultation.

Besides the inner struggles and health condition that these small creatures have, we almost can find the special glow in their eyes...

"Charlie" was recovering from a cervical herniation surgery, that took place only 8 hours before this photograph! Can you believe it???

"Bagel", the 8 year old Prairie dog, was taken by his caretaker for a CT scan, and I had the perfect opportunity to capture him with my smartphone camera when he was under general anestesia for the exam.

Birds are becoming more and more popular among owners, and some of them are absolutely amazing, having their small size with huge sized "souls".

They surely can bring joy at one home, even that I don't understand so much the point of having them caged for life...
This Australian budgerigar was brought for routine check-up (blood work, deworming, and weight check up).

"Hoover" was taking a small nap, when I passed by his cage and capture him in a peaceful and quiet moment of his day

"Scoot" was hospitalized due to Chronic Renal Failure due to Leishmaniosis infection, and he was already in the expectation of the arrival of his caretaker

We, has humans, "decide" to play like "gods" when we make the selection of their genetic material by electing the phenotypic characteristic that "suits" our purposes (and some of them are absolutely superfluous... only for aesthetic reasons)

The "rounded" head, with the "short" nose length is two of the most desirable characteristics in now-a-days trending dog breeds (like French Bulldogs or Chihuahuas) leading to "extreme" body size disproportions like in this little one's tongue size compared with his mouth.

But this post isn't about "our" cruel decisions to select determinate features in animal breeds that can lead to a severe worsening of the daily welfare conditions.

One of my favorite species of domestic animals are cats! The are for sure the most impressive creature that man was capable of "taken them" inside their houses, and live by his side.

I simply love cats in the owner perspective, not in the professional perspective, since sometimes they can be very challenging for having a stress free manipulation...

But even so, there is a famous sentence from Leonardo da Vinci that suits perfect for me:

"The smallest feline is a masterpiece"

First consultations for active immunization is also a very popular appointment at the Hospital facilities.

And when it cames to see puppies or kittens there is nothing more joyful compared with them!

That grey cat looks like mine :) And I adore the spotty nose on the second one.
Beautiful Labrador too.

Agree about birds in cages.

I love cats! One of my biggest passions has black and white photography... Thank you so much for your support and your comment, @ewkaw ! It is a true honor for me having them both from you!
