I was at the Kuala Meuraxa estuary in Lhokseumawe, Aceh, at sunset on December 17, 2024, watching two fishermen fishing with a cast net in the shallows of the tidal area. They were working as a team, taking turns casting.
I hoped to capture a perfectly circular throw of the net as it opened up, but every time one of them threw it, it never quite formed a complete circle. This didn't seem to affect their catch, but it meant I couldn't get the photo I wanted.
They were seen wearing headlamps, indicating that they would continue fishing until night, taking advantage of the low tide.
I captured these views with a Sony A7 III camera combined with a Canon 100-400 lens using Metabones synchronization.
