MONOMAD CHALLENGE : Studio Conceptual Portraiture - Vallerie in BnW

in Black And White3 years ago

This is my entry for the daily #monomad challenge hosted and curated by @monochromes.

Hello everyone in Black and White community. How are you guys doing? I hope you guys are having a great weekend.

Today I want to share another Black and White studio portraiture series. This was done before the pandemic comes to my country.

Here are Vallerie. She was a pageant lover and we have been working together for nearly 2 years. She is a very happy go lucky person. At first she had a very hard time to get the expression that I want. So we do a warm up session for about 30 minutes, while giving her some instruction and checking on her pose she slowly get into the mood and getting her expression right.

During the shoot I changed the lighting position quite often. My setup was a big main light from an octa sofbox 45 degree on the right in front of her, and another softbox for the fill light at the back opposite of the main light. A cupboard was used in some of her shoots.

Its a challenge to shoot with black background if the lighting was put in the wrong position. The background had to be lit in balance. It is because the studio that I used that time was small and if the lighting was done incorrectly it will make the background uneven and takes a lot of time fixing on the post processing.

Luckily the photo turns out good. Below are some of her best shoots during the studio photoshoot session.
