MONOMAD: When the lights go down in the Shitty (PT2) Darkness Falls

in Black And White3 years ago (edited)
This is my entry for the #monomad contest

Continuing on the previous theme we take another stroll through my old nieghborhood. Or Nay-borhood, as it was starting to get to me after a while. So long suckas, all that's left is memories, frigid... mostly. When HO-vid hit it was kinda nice... for once there was silence for a couple of years at night, not the non stop usual drone of cars as they whirled around the roundabout. Of course the sound of shunting trains almost never stopped. In fact that got progressively worse.
There was also this shuddering that would happen at various times, like tremors or aftershocks. The whole house would shake. Initially I thought it was the neighbors slamming weights down in their basement. When I figured out it wasn't that, I thought it must be trains shunting off in the distance. Eventually, on one of my several investigative walks, I wandered and heard. Figured out it was the manufacturing place. They must have acquired some insanely heavy duty metal press or something akin to that because you could feel the ground shake a block away. They always seemed to wanna do it on a Friday night when you were just trying to kick back and relax. Then there was my brother who lived upstairs, and would often be up late at night stomping around all hours of the night. Granted, siblings tend to get on each others nerves regardless but I don't know how many times I begged him to go to sleep to the point where he was just like... MOVE...OUT... GO TO SOUTH AFRICA. He had these habit of drinking, smoking inside, throwing garbage and garbage bags outside of his window. I guess walking down the stairs and putting it in the bin like a regular person was a bit too insane of a concept for him to grasp, or too much "work." As many times as I asked him to refrain from doing that he would always say he puts in in the garbage (eventually) which would generally take a couple of days and I'd just see it sitting. Eventually I remember the grand skunk battle of 2020 going on outside my window as they battled over his food garbage.. Not sure if anybody has heard, but skunks make some pretty insane noises when they are fighting each other. Not to mention they stink. In the grand scheme of things, honestly these very well clearly first world problems. I definitively don't deny that however as much as I was happy to have a place over my head... eventually it just didn't feel like home.

For the Darklights photo, I had seen some CN construction workers working further down the tracks and I was wondering if running around, flashing a flashlight to add some extra illumination to the scene would be a good idea. Well I said eff it, gonna do it... Snapped a pic and wandered off. A short while later, I had wandered to a different area not too far off and sitting down and snapping a pic... I saw a cop car blast through the area. I could be wrong but I couldn't help feeling is it had something to do with me. I know they are not fond of people messing around on the train tracks and glad they didn't see me, lurking in the shadows.

The skunk? Is that a honey Badger? How did you manage to get a decent shot?
I love the Train track shots and those powerful lights, gives the pictures a different feel by all means. Hahaha, glad the cops didn't see you lurking on the tracks.

Very pretty lights ❤️ Great stuff by a great photographer. 🙂

Thanks @ykdesign 😊 U da best 😀

thank dear for your continuous support and love ❤️

Awe its hard not to support such great content 😇

Lol... thanks @josediccus. I would be worried if it was a honey badger. It was obsessed with eating some garbage stuck to the ground and didn't seem to mind me getting close.

I was quite concerned too, but I feel the skunk looked like a Honey Badger from afar. Hahaha in my country you wouldn't see an animal as such loitering in the open.

HOW COME??? 🤔
