If I tell you I haven't missed taking pictures and sharing them in monochromes I'd be sitting on a throne of lies. I have not had the luxury of shooting any human subject of late. PS - The title of this post is in Yoruba, an indigenous language in Nigeria. It translates to 'Wonder/Magic' without the 'MI' which translates to my. It has become a way of greeting each other for us as a form of endearment. 'Farouk' is one of my closest friends. He came by my house yesterday on his return from the leather market. An amazing cobbler he is. I was delighted to see him, as the humdrum was telling on me. We decided that we would head out the next day (today) to do a bit of photography
On getting to the football field just the next street from mine, we saw a bunch of kids kicking a football around. Trust me to take some pictures, which I would be sharing later. Working with Farouk in making these photos was amazing. He didn't know how to pose, and that was no problem at all. I realized making people at ease, laugh and smile is my forte, and even he said it. Feeling smug now.
My new philosophy, well not new per-se, is to showcase people's personalities with my photos, and these pictures tell you just about everything you need to know about this lad. Jovial, free-spirited, resilient, fun, everything. He does not look like what he has been through one bit. I hope you enjoyed these as much as I did while making them
