Hail to the Hive!
As some of you may be aware I have recently been delving into the street art of Leicester after the Bring the Paint Festival. I also had some fun manipulating them into #monochrome and this is what tickled my fancy today.
I think it was the bricks and the imagery combined that got my cogs turning as I took the 45 minute walk along the tow path along the canal into the city. As I passed the artwork along the side of this building and was viewing it very close up I stopped a moment and spent a few moments snapping away.
I can't quite put my finger on what it is about the effect of black and white photography and graffiti that grabs me. I mentioned in a previous post that it kind of reminds me of old graphic novels and that, I think, is part of it.
But close up and personal with the texture of the brick work and the removal of the colour they just take on a different vibe completely.
For whatever reason I am drawn to it I think it works. It creates another concept different from the intended original.
and there's just no escaping the fact that....

What a beautiful mural you have here, I love street art, but I've never seen it in monochrome before, and to be honest, I like how it looks in black and white
Have a happy start of the week
