Hoy en día, Cuba vive una situación social bastante delicada y que muchos ignoran. Si el país se ha hecho eco en los principales canales de noticias a nivel mundial, debido a la situación política que existe hoy en día, pues no es el único problema al que se enfrentan actualmente: La población cubana está envejeciendo, trayendo consigo repercusión de índole social y económico.

Today, Cuba is experiencing a very delicate social situation that many ignore. If the country has been echoed in the main news channels worldwide, due to the political situation that exists today, it is not the only problem they are currently facing: The Cuban population is aging, bringing with it repercussions of social and economic nature.

El envejecimiento en Cuba constituye el principal problema demográfico, con cifra que alcanza 18,3 % de la población con 60 años y más, se espera que para el 2025 este grupo alcance más del 25 % de la población total, siendo uno de los países más envejecidos de América Latina.

Cuando paseas por las calles de sus ciudades es evidente la situación, te encuentras habitualmente rostros avejentados, cansados y llenos de arrugas que se han ido profundizando al pasar el tiempo.

La causa principal ha sido la emigración de los jóvenes, para buscar una mejor situación económica, debido a la escasez y recursos que presenta el país. No hay como frenar ese flujo migratorio, que cada vez más se agudiza, sobre todo después de la pandemia del covid, donde la situación ha empeorado.

The main cause has been the emigration of young people, to seek a better economic situation, due to the scarcity and resources that the country presents. There is no way to stop this migratory flow, which is becoming more and more acute, especially after the covid pandemic, where the situation has worsened.

Esto trae como consecuencia, que muchas personas de la tercera edad sigan trabajando aunque tengan su edad de jubilación laboral, y sigan aportando a la sociedad a pesar de sus años.

Esperemos que esta cara de la sociedad cubana mejore, y que estas personas puedan tener el descanso merecido después de tanto tiempo trabajando, se lo merecen.

This has the consequence that many elderly people continue to work even though they are of working retirement age, and continue to contribute to society despite their years.
