Monomad challenge - BW trees

Title: BW trees

I have to admit that I only feel calm if there are trees around. It seemed magical and useful to me since I was little.

A significant amount of all living things enormous advantages from just one tree. Each tree draws countless insects, which in turn draw a variety of animals that eat them. Additionally, trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen. It serves several purposes.

Some trees are hidden from view by dense overgrowth.

Some trees are cut, thus revealing concentric circles off a cross-section.

And some are infected with various diseases or heavily attacked by bugs or worms. An insect that eats the area between the bark and the stem attacked this Siberian elm tree. The tree appears to have been engraved as a result of this process, where the bark peels off.
