The past two weeks flew by in a hurry and as a side-effect had me check in to Hive very little. Sorry, but - no sorry - we were on vacation.
In 'normal' years we escape New Jersey winters and go to Bonaire in early spring, to soak up some sun and to go windsurfing. Both in 2020 and in 2021 we had to cancel our 80 % paid for reservations and now really hope that we can return to the island in 2022.
To not completely miss out on the sun and windsurfing, plus I needed time away from work, we decided pretty short notice to go to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. No plane travel involved in this, just a 10 hour drive with our fully loaded car.
The photo below is from a few years back at our traditional photo stop at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, but the car looks the same each time: 4 surf boards on top, 2 bikes on the rack, 6 sails, 4 masts, 4 booms, a body board, fins, wetsuits - all the important stuff. Okay, a duffel with clothes and necessities is in there somewhere as well.
It was the first time we went to OBX in April, our usual time is sometime in fall to extend the New Jersey summer - did I mention that we love summer?
We didn't have a lot of wind around this time, but this simply meant that we used the bikes more often and went for more walks on and off the beach.
Pictured here is a pretty typical day from sunrise over the ocean to windsurfing the bay, admiring the ocean surf and clouds while walking on the beach.
The sups and kayaks made for a pretty photo op, don't you think? A local business was laying them out for a group that had rented them and was getting ready to go on the water. I just thought they looked pretty 😙.
And that's a wrap for me for today.
See you around!
