A Chronicle of a Discreet Past./ Monomad Challenge [Eng/Esp]

Hello, good morning, friends.

Today I bring you news of a recent adventure, a little different from street photography, but just as exciting. It turns out that @jesni and @jeniferzr were kind enough to invite me, along with @nanixxx, to explore an old casino in the city where they live, Santa Fe, a few miles from the capital. Of course, I couldn't say no. Early in the morning, I was already there with my explorer's backpack, ready for action and camera in hand.

Getting to the place is a bit complicated. Being on the coast, the sea has been reclaiming the spaces that man took away from it, and what used to be a highway is now a very difficult road to access.

But just because it's complicated doesn't mean it's not fun, eh. Between the rocks and the attempt to cross a collapsed bridge, the excitement is well worth it.

A little history: the Casino de Santa Fe, as it was known, dates back to the 1920s, when during Prohibition in the United States, places like this were needed, where people could come discreetly to drink Cuban rum, far from the prying eyes of the city.

They say that boats arrived from Florida, Mexico, and even Panama, practically every day.

When you arrive at the site, there is an air of mystery, as if someone were watching you or some bored ghost were about to come out to meet you. The level of deterioration is severe... a real shame.

The four of us took on the role of explorers 😁. The place is almost completely covered by vegetation and graffiti, and the constant feeling is that no one cares about this place anymore.

Of course, the sea was delightful. It's a shame I couldn't go swimming, because returning home in that condition would have been disastrous 😅, but next time I'll be more than ready.

At least we enjoyed ourselves with the photos and good company, as our hosts were super friendly. We'll be back at some point, with the idea of having a picnic and bringing some beers.

Hola, buen día, amigos.
Hoy les traigo noticias de una aventura reciente, un poco alejada de las fotos callejeras, pero igual de emocionante. Resulta que @jesni y @jeniferzr tuvieron la amabilidad de invitarme, junto a @nanixxx, a explorar un antiguo casino en la ciudad donde viven, Santa Fe, a pocos kilómetros de la capital. Por supuesto, no me pude negar. Bien temprano ya estaba con mi mochila de explorador, listo para la acción y cámara en mano.
Llegar al lugar es un poco complicado. Al estar en la costa, el mar ha ido reclamando los espacios que el hombre le quitó y lo que antes fue una carretera hoy es un camino de muy difícil acceso.
Pero no por ser complejo deja de ser divertido, eh. Entre las piedras y el intento de cruzar un puente derrumbado, la emoción bien vale la pena.
Un poco de historia: el Casino de Santa Fe, como se le conocía, data de la década del 20, cuando durante la Ley Seca en los Estados Unidos se necesitaban lugares como este, donde las personas pudieran venir de forma discreta a beber ron cubano, lejos de los ojos curiosos de la ciudad.
Dicen que llegaban embarcaciones desde la Florida, México y hasta Panamá, prácticamente a diario.
Al llegar al lugar se siente un aire de misterio, como si alguien te estuviera observando o algún fantasma aburrido fuera a salirte al encuentro. El nivel de deterioro es fuerte… una verdadera lástima.
Allí los cuatro asumimos el papel de exploradores 😁. El lugar está casi totalmente cubierto por la vegetación y los grafitis, y la sensación constante es que a nadie le importa ya ese sitio.
Eso sí, el mar estaba delicioso. Lástima que no pude bañarme, porque regresar a casa en esas condiciones habría sido desastroso 😅, pero para la próxima seguro estaré más que listo.
Al menos nos dimos el gusto con las fotos y la buena compañía, ya que nuestras anfitrionas fueron súper amables. En algún momento volveremos, con la idea de hacer un picnic y llevar unas cervecitas.
