These were some quick mini-session portraits I took during a comedy show in Austin, Texas. The show was One Love Comedy at The Pershing. A members only club, Pershing opens their doors once a month to public for entertainment. This time around people invited for a night of comedy featuring the likes of Hunter Duncan, Ehsan Ahmad, Heather Shaw, CJ Landry, Dan Pyatetsky, and more.
This is my entry for the #monomad challenge
The lighting setup for this was rather simple. I used a Godox speedlight equipped with a softbox and grid as the key light for the subjects. I then added a 6*4 muslin bounce on the opposite of the subjects face to give a soft bounce filling up some shadows on the face. Finally I added an LED wand as a backlight for the subjects.
I personally think the color photos came out wonderful but I wanted to see what the result would be in #monochrome and I'm sharing the results with the #HIVE.
The camera setup was Panasonic Lumix GH4 equipped with a Konica Hexanon 28mm lens at f3.5 with a black pro mist 1/4 filter.
On the next go with mini-session portraits I'd like to light the background of the subjects giving a lot more depth to the photo. That's something I haven't particularly tried in the past and it's something I'm learning to incorporate with video so it would make sense that it would only help my photography as well.
To end the night these two women wanted to take photo with comedian Sam Prickett who had the crowd in stitches during his set.
