El poder de la palabra no tiene ningún tipo de dudas y argumentos para creer lo contrario. Sin embargo, el día que supe que haría fotografía a un narrador de cuentos, dude un poco, y subestimé, de una forma u otra, el poder de la palabra. Ha sido una experiencia llena de magia, un momento envolvente, donde esta mujer, Carolina Beltrán, ha narrado diferentes historias que han activado la esencia de la imaginación.

The power of the word has no doubts and arguments to believe otherwise. However, the day I learned that I would photograph a storyteller, I hesitated a little, and I underestimated, in one way or another, the power of the word. It has been an experience full of magic, an enveloping moment, where this woman, Carolina Beltran, has narrated different stories that have activated the essence of imagination.

Carolina, con su voz, cautivó a toda la audiencia, se desenvuelve con una gracia que llamó mucho mi atención; sus expresiones y movimientos corporales, al darle vida a los personajes y al cuento mismo, fueron clave para la puesta en escena. El uso de sonidos y música para resaltar las emociones de la narrativa fue muy acertada, a mi juicio; creando mayor conexión y sinergia entre ella, el cuento y los presentes.

Carolina, with her voice, captivated the entire audience, she performed with a grace that caught my attention; her expressions and body movements, giving life to the characters and the story itself, were key to the staging. The use of sounds and music to highlight the emotions of the narrative was very successful, in my opinion; creating a greater connection and synergy between her, the story and the audience.

La Sala del Grillo se presta mucho para crear una atmósfera íntima y agradable, aspecto que influyó en gran medida para que el público y los artistas se sintieran cómodos fluyendo con las historias. Me pareció maravillo escuchar cuentos, en el pasado no había tenido la oportunidad de vivir esa experiencia. Las reacciones del público se hicieron sentir con sus reacciones, el asombro, las risas y la intriga de cada detalle de la narrativa de los cuentos, muchos momentos de sorpresas y hasta inesperados.

The Sala del Grillo lends itself very well to create an intimate and pleasant atmosphere, an aspect that greatly influenced the audience and the artists to feel comfortable flowing with the stories. I found it wonderful to listen to stories, I had not had the opportunity to experience that in the past. The reactions of the audience were felt with their reactions, the amazement, the laughter and the intrigue of every detail of the narrative of the stories, many moments of surprises and even unexpected.

Me ha parecido acertado usar el revelado digital blanco y negro para resaltar la simplicidad de este espectáculo, de los gestos, las expresiones, haciendo lo posible por reflejar el cautivador momento que se vivió escuchando cuentos. Sin duda, la fotografía sin color convierte la narrativa visual en una experiencia distinta. Tener la oportunidad de fotografiar este tipo de eventos ha sido una experiencia para celebrar el poder que tiene la palabra, y a su vez, hacerle honor a la imaginación y a la creatividad.

I thought it was right to use the black and white digital development to highlight the simplicity of this show, the gestures, the expressions, trying to reflect the captivating moment that was lived listening to stories. Undoubtedly, photography without color turns the visual narrative into a different experience. Having the opportunity to photograph this type of event has been an experience to celebrate the power of the word, and at the same time, to honor imagination and creativity.

Esta es mi propuesta para el reto #monomad. Las fotos han sido capturadas en la Sala del Grillo de la Corporación Cultural Atabanza, en Duitama, Colombia. Usé una cámara Canon 700D, editadas en Silver Efex Pro y Adobe Lightroom.
