Kashmir, Dal Lake & 🛶 // #monomad challenge

Namaste HIVE!

Last year I spent the early half of the year in Srinagar.
We were working on my band's second studio album - Siyah - and recording and shooting it in and around Srinagar, Kashmir.

Kashmir is a beautiful place marred by some gruelling history.
During the time I was there, there were frequent lockdowns - not only because of the pandemic, but also due to its political situation.
I was staying near the Dal Lake and used to go for long walks everyday.

Dal is an urban Lake and is the most visited tourist spot in Srinagar.
But during the lockdown, there was no-one around.
And I managed to snap some lovely pictures with my then newly acquired iphone 12.

The boats you see in the pictures are called Shikara.
It is quite an adventure travelling in them. I tried to learn but it is not my cup of tea.

Hope these pics made you feel as peaceful as I felt during the time I took them.
And wishing for the same peace for the Valley of Kashmir 🙏🏼

Here is one more for good luck :)

I read that sewage water has polluted the Dal Lake and its drying up...quite sad. I don't see any respite and peace for kashmiris, unfortunate. I am sure the place is beautiful, spoilt by men, politicians and its turning ugly.

Recently I have seen many cleaning drives and the water level also looks good. I guess that is because the government is trying hard to promote it as a tourist destination... and it is a beautiful one. But the political tension a consistent problem unfortunately...

See where will the sewage that humans cause go to?, they are let into lakes like Dal lake. Have they installed a STP or sewage treament plant there, so the sewage water is treated before they let out that effluence into that lake?

They do have a sewage treatment plant called LAWDA. I have seen sign posts along the bank of Dal Lake that they maintain it.
How efficiently though I do not know details...

wah sir kya najara hai ♥️ have to visit there one day .
