Hello everyone, how are you today? Hope you are always in good health and well. Introduce me Fahzian Alevan from Aceh, Indonesia. Let me for the first time take part in the visual challenge of a black and white image during my first post in the black and white community. This is for me how I can join and be a part of this community. I really hope to be accepted here as a place for my learning.
Alright, let's get straight to it, this time my entry for the #monomadchallenge is a traditional and unique visual image of drinking coffee upside down or the Acehnese are often called Kopi Khop. Khop coffee itself has actually been around for a long time, even from some sources it has existed since the 17th century during the kingdom in Aceh. Khop coffee itself comes with the type of robusta beans with a unique drinking way. Usually drinking coffee is done by sipping from a cup or glass. Khop coffee is different, served in an upside down glass on a small plate or cup we call it. A barista at that time named Aan said that Kopi khop originally came from the west coast or Aceh Barat Regency (West Aceh). Aan said, khop coffee is a form of endatu Acehnese tradition and cultural heritage. The word khop comes from the Acehnese language which means 'upside down or face down'. The philosophy of khop coffee is closely related to the symbol of 'kupiah meukutop' which is a typical West Aceh hat worn by Teuku Umar, an Acehnese icon fighter who was designated as an Indonesian National Hero who came from West Aceh. Based on historical searches to date, there is no other area in Indonesia that has a similar tradition and culture in terms of brewing and enjoying coffee. So with this we all have participated in maintaining the traditions and culture of the Acehnese people. At the time I took the picture at least a 1001 kopi khop festival was held and distributed to the public for free. The goal is that Kopi Khop itself does not disappear and is always in the minds of young people that it is an important tradition and history for coffee in Aceh. Well maybe my little story about this. If you want to ask more questions and are curious about the story and history to drinking coffee upside down, you can comment so that I can write about this story in more detail. Well if you are interested please like and comment. I also need criticism and suggestions from all of my friends. Thank you.
