Monomad; The African Lady

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, they say and with my eyes, I see this beauty. Many people have their different concepts of what beauty is. This is my view of beauty, the African woman.

We have different tribes and cultures in Africa, Nigeria to be more specific. The hijab is a part of those cultures. Out of the three most outstanding tribes in Nigeria; the Hausa,Youruba and Igbo, the Hausa and Yoruba women wear the hijab.

The hijab is a head covering, generally a veil or a scarf, worn in public or in the presence of non-familiar adult males by some Muslim women. There are many reasons to which Muslim women wear the hijab

The hijab to some women is a way of demonstrating their submission to God and sometimes their spouse. A lot of controversies have risen due to the hijab in Nigeria, especially in Christian highschools.

It's very rare if you find a Muslim girl in a Christian highschool. Say, the education in that particular school is too notch and the girl wants to be one of the best students too. I can bet that she would pass through a lot of trauma because she's a Muslim

Many Nigerians have this fear in them that Muslims are evil and so they jump on every opportunity they see to frustrate Muslims lives. The learned people aren't part of this drama.

Personally, I admire people who wear the hijab. They look very decent and quite attractive. There are real epitomes of beauty in my perspective.

My model here just wanted her face to be captured. She kept giving me killer facial expressions and that made my work easier.

I usually do still life photography but I decided to try out something new. What do you think about the pictures?

This is my entry for the #monomad challenge.
