Every now and then I try to do street photography with the minimum or the most basic, as a kind of exercise, although I've learned that equipment is not as necessary as creativity, imagination and scenarios. I like the kit lens, the one that nobody likes, the one that everybody hates 😆 or that they have in oblivion? well it's a pretty interesting and versatile lens and you can get everything with it.

Today I'm going to share some street shots with the 18-55mm lens, about 6 blocks of walking approximately on Cabildo avenue in the Belgrano neighborhood of Buenos Aires city.

Cada cierto tiempo intento hacer fotografía de calle con lo más mínimo o lo más básico, como una especie de ejercicio, aunque de igual forma he aprendido que el equipo no es tan necesario como la creatividad, la imaginación y los escenarios. Me gusta el lente de kit, ese que a nadie le agrada, el que todos odian 😆 o que tienen en el olvido... bueno es un lente bastante interesante y versátil y puedes conseguir de todo con él.

Hoy voy a compartir algunas tomas de calle con el lente 18-55mm, unas 6 cuadras de caminata aproximadamente sobre la avenida Cabildo en el barrio Belgrano de la ciudad de Buenos Aires.

It was obvious that I was going to end up in the middle of one of the bus stations, trying to get good angles, finding lines, some low angles to get some texture in the compositions as well. The structure of these stations are very interesting and I like them, so I always resort to these places.

It was a cloudy day, there was not good light but that's also an attractive scenery.

Era obvio que iba a terminar en medio de una de las estaciones de buses, del metrobús intentando conseguir buenos ángulos, encontrando líneas, algunos ángulos bajos para conseguir también un poco de textura en las composiciones. La estructura de estas estaciones son muy interesantes y me agradan, por lo que siempre recurro a estos lugares.

Era un día nublado, no había buena luz pero ese también es un escenario atractivo.

I have been analyzing the shots I always take, the angles I look for during a walk and even the way I look at the streets before shooting, I usually have on the camera a 50mm, 85mm or a lens with a focal length where most of the photos go up to 200mm. Today I wanted to use the basics, something more angular and if I could have a fisheye I would, an 8mm lens would be wonderful for architectural photography and old buildings.

Anyway, this is the structure of the metrobus station and some other pictures around it, some people crossing the avenue, crosswalk, cars and a cobblestone side street that looks quite dramatic in my opinion.

He estado analizando las tomas que siempre hago, los ángulos que busco durante una caminata y hasta la forma de mirar las calles antes de disparar, usualmente tengo puesto en la cámara un lente 50mm, 85mm o un lente con distancia focal en dónde la mayoría de las fotos llegan a los 200mm. Hoy quise usar lo básico, algo más angular y si pudiera tener un ojo de pez lo haría, un lente 8mm sería maravilloso para la fotografía de arquitectura y edificios antiguos.

En fin, ésta es la estructura de la estación de metrobús y algunas otras fotos alrededor, algunas personas cruzando la avenida, paso peatonal, autos y una calle lateral empedrada que luce bastante dramática a mi parecer.

I don't really know if it was a good idea but it occurred to me to take some shots in the middle of those "holes" that make up the structure of the station, some people working and walking from one side to the other... trying some "weird" angles and taking advantage of the wide angle of this lens.

No sé realmente si fue buena idea pero se me ocurrió hacer algunas tomas en medio de esos "agujeros" que conforman la estructura de la estación, algunas personas trabajando y caminando de un lado a otro... probando algunos ángulos "raros" y aprovechando el angular de este lente.

I'm not sure but this next one might be my favorite of this whole series, although the first one is too, I can't decide but I'm not obliged to, so I'll leave those two as my favorites. I was leaning the camera on one of the seats and managed to capture in the background that person who just crossed the avenue to get there, then I did a similar shot but focusing on one of the seats. The third one is something wider, general.

No estoy seguro pero ésta siguiente podría ser mi favorita de toda esta serie, aunque la primera también lo es, no logro decidir pero tampoco estoy obligado a hacerlo, así que dejo esas dos como mis favoritas. Estaba apoyado la cámara sobre uno de los asientos y logré capturar al fondo a esa persona que recién cruzó la avenida para llegar allí, luego hice una toma similar pero enfocando a unos de los asientos. La tercera es algo más amplio, general.

I need to do this another day but with good light, possibly during sunset in some good area where I can also get shadows, something interesting to compose, I'm already thinking of something at the moment.

Necesito hacer esto otro día pero con buena luz, posiblemente durante al atardecer en alguna buena zona donde también pueda conseguir sombras, algo interesante para componer, ya estoy pensando en algo en este momento.
