Hello, fellow Black-and-White photography enthusiasts!
Tonight, I’ve prepared two sets of images to share with you. The first set focuses on skyscrapers, while the second highlights street art. These two themes present a stark contrast in how we approach and appreciate them.
For skyscrapers, I typically step back to capture the grandeur and scale of the structures within the photo. In contrast, photographing street art requires me to get up close to showcase its intricate details and textures. Despite their differences, both subjects are equally fascinating. It all comes down to how you frame them in your shot.
Whenever I have the chance to go on a photo walk in the city, I always look for subjects like architecture and street art to photograph. These are two of my favorite subjects, and I’m glad the city offers plenty of amazing opportunities for me to capture. I guess these two themes naturally capture my attention. Whenever I spot something interesting, I’m always eager to take a photo and add it to my collection.
Ever since I bought my DJI Osmo Pocket camera, I’ve felt an overwhelming motivation to keep shooting. Even though it has been over three months since I first got my camera, my enthusiasm hasn’t faded in the slightest. I guess this is the hobby I truly love, and it brings me immense joy to create something I feel proud of. Somehow, it has become a form of therapy for me whenever I go on a photo walk. I believe many would agree when I say that photography is also a great form of exercise. I often find myself walking for almost an hour just to capture the perfect shot.
Last week, I had the chance to visit Suntec City, one of the places known for its outstanding skyscrapers. These buildings are so unique and visually striking. Whenever I photograph skyscrapers, I prefer to do so at night. The lighting at night is much more dramatic, with the buildings illuminated, creating better contrast compared to daytime shots. The vibrant lights give the images a special impact that’s hard to achieve when shooting during the day.
Another favorite subject of mine is street art. One of the reasons I love photographing street art is that it’s constantly changing and evolving. This dynamic nature keeps me motivated to capture pieces I haven’t seen before. Street art transforms blank walls into vibrant works of creativity, and it feels as if the art is alive and growing.
I’d say the Kampong Glam area has the highest concentration of street art in the city. However, there are also other areas where walls are transformed into incredible works of art. You can feel the passion of the artists when you see their work receiving the appreciation it truly deserves.
Tonight, I will show you a stunning piece of street art I discovered in the Tanjong Pagar area. It’s one of the liveliest spots in the city, filled with pubs and high-quality restaurants. The vibrant atmosphere adds even more charm to the street art, making it an inspiring place for photographers like me.
In conclusion, photography continues to be a fulfilling passion that allows me to explore the city in new and exciting ways. Whether it’s capturing the towering elegance of skyscrapers or the ever-evolving beauty of street art, each photo walk feels like a creative adventure. I hope my experiences inspire you to pick up your camera, step outside, and discover the remarkable stories waiting to be told through your lens.
