Mother Goose and Gratitude

in Black And White3 years ago (edited)

I am the crow lady. I stand around in the street looking up at the trees, talking to them, sometimes laughing. I always figured I looked crazy. Even when the crows talked back. Or came down to eat. Or landed on my head.

Then I saw the goose lady.

And I thought...

Damn, I really do look crazy. I mean, she does.

Talking to them like people. Calling them over by name.

I do that!!

But I know she's not crazy.

I know her. Not personally. Not in passing. Not like friend-of-a-friend. I see her. She's been through some shit. She knows what lonely means in its darkest hour.

I know her because I am her. And in a time when I needed a person to connect with at a time when I didn't feel safe trusting any human with my vulnerability, I found my birds. Just like she found hers.

And maybe some people will look at us like we're crazy.

But we're not. Oh, no. We're not crazy.

We're at peace.

This is my entry to the #monomad challenge, held daily in the Black and White Community. Try it. It doesn't matter if you win, or what people think of your entry. It matters if it makes you happy.

I talk to mountain goats and give them names. I wouldn't call it crazy :)

Oh, no, not at all. And you're not at all paranoid that they're plotting to horn you to death on top of that mountain where nobody can hear you scream. Except Kevin. He can hear you scream.

Thank you for being a valued member of my echo chamber. Here, we can all feel normal, connected, and at peace. We are safe here, talking to the crows and the goats.

Yes. We are... are... are... are...
