And Now For Something Completely Different...

Well, I'd managed to get about a paragraph written this morning when I came across this post by @nonameslefttouse. I think the only other time I've laughed that much this early in the morning involved hijacking a street preacher's bluetooth speaker to play Cardi B's WAP. My train of thought was quickly derailed recalling stories of other trippy adventures and when I tried to get back to writing it was those that I wanted to write about. Then I remembered that in other contexts they refer to that sort of thing as evidence and I tossed that thought out the window.

Now that my train of thought is well and truly derailed I'm just going to see where it goes. Buy the ticket, take the ride Sorry, no refunds.

I just found this photo and it is now one of my favorites from last year. Dude facing the line of cops is a badass. There's very few people that I will pick up a gun and follow into a lively situation but he is one. When things get really tense with LMPD one or another of the organizers will often approach the police line to find out what's going on and attempt to deescalate the situation (this isn't the safest of tasks, the first night of protests I was at they lit up a local journalist and her camera crew live on the air). One day a line of riot cops rushed the park where people were protesting and the guy in the photo went to approach them to find out what was going on. Instead LMPD tackled him and someone from the local paper got this shot of him in midair during that. Dude got the photo printed on a shirt and wore that the next Saturday when LMPD had the park surrounded because a militia was supposed to be "coming to take back the city."

And now for something completely different, here's a tune I just stumbled upon. I don't know a damn thing about Charley Crockett but I dig his sound. I grew up saying I hated country music but I eventually realized I was just listening to the wrong country music. Besides, I couldn't pass up a tune that Willie covered AND was banned.

Y'all know I'm a sucker for reflections, I just couldn't pass up the chance to take a shot when I got the chance.

Even if it's the bulletproof glass of LMPD's Bearcat armored vehicle.

All these photos are from Derby day last year. As I was getting ready to head home for the day I happened upon this license plate and had so many questions that I had to snap a shot. Is there someone named Juicy? If so, why are they being memorialized on a license plate? Or is it some punny peach joke? May the Force be with you Juicy. That's probably enough randomness for one day, time to go watch an episode of the Flying Circus.

Thanks for getting my Friday started off right!

No. Thank you. One can't hear the laughter after trying to entertain and make people laugh, but in writing. Someone on stage knows instantly if what they're doing worked, or didn't work. So when I find out people are enjoying it and having a good time, it really brings my spirits up.
