Black and White Sunsets around the World IX - Monomad Challenge

in Black And White3 years ago

Sunsets are something that everybody should try to see every once in a while. The peace that you feel inside while watching a sunset is indescribable. It is the perfect time to meditate about life, the things you did during the day and the ones you should do tomorrow. Take the chance to wonder what you have done wrong and how to do it right. I have travelled for a long time and in every place I was going I was checking the best sunset spots and be able to meditate about the different cultures I was visiting. Here I share with you some of the most beautiful sunsets I have encountered.

One of my favourite places on earth. The whole area of Angkor Wat is amazing. Nature has taken over the whole place and you feel that we are just temporary, what really stays is nature. After civilisation left this place trees and plants started to eat the walls and everything. Now, when you walk around you feel like you are in a different planet. So for that reason and for how tranquil it can be, it still remains on my top 5 of places I have visited. For this sunset actually, I went off the beaten path. When I asked the tuk tuk driver to take me to see the sunset he was taking me to where every tourist was going, but for me, after checking on maps on which side the sun was setting, I preferred to go to the other side, to be able to see the sun setting behind the temple, not the opposite, as the touristic spot. I remember I had to argue a little bit with the driver as he was trying to convince me, saying that the play I said wasn't good. But sometimes you need to trust and listen to yourself, because seeing this picture, I can say that I was totally right.

This is the type of pictures that are very difficult to choose from. I literally have more than two hundred pictures very similar to this one. When you are there you are never happy with the result, you always think that if you wait for the next wave you will get a better one. But it is easy to press the button, but when it comes to organising and selecting the best one it can become hell. So difficult to choose from very similar pictures, all of them look great. Specially with that background of Pukaki Lake in New Zealand. The whole are is like this. It is impossible to take a bad picture there.

A different sunset now, a cloudy one. Cloudy sunsets are special, but you need to be lucky. When there are a lot of clouds in the sky, you need a bit of luck so between the horizon and the clouds there is a gap, where you see the sun setting. If you get this, then it is piece of cake. Every sunset like this looks incredible. In fact, it gives a different feeling to the picture. More like chaotic and rowdy feeling. And that sometimes is great for pictures. Even more if you use something like these lamps that gives you an even moodier shot.

This last picture I remember wasn't even planned. I was coming back from St. Kilda Beach in Melbourne and as I was waiting for the tram I looked back and saw this beautiful sunset. Obviously I missed the tram. I started to walk around trying to get the best shot. With that clear sky, that intense sun and of course those palm trees, it was easy to take a great picture like this. I always plan my sunsets, but if not, it is also important to keep an eye at the sky, you could be missing a great sunset.

Nice shots, I liked the second one especially because of the light coming out of the clouds and the wave hitting the rocks.
