I used this title because Beijing and China in general are known for being very crowded cities. And it is true, I am not going to argue that, but it is also a huge country in term of dimension so obviously you will get some areas that are quieter than others. China has certain rural and mountain areas that are almost empty and with a spectacular nature. But in this case I am gonna share with you some places of Beijing that can be more relaxing since there are not many people around, and others that although there could be people around, the way I took the picture it gives you a different feeling.
The first thing that many people think about when it comes to China is The Great Wall and I can assure you that it deserves that. It is just impressive. You only realise the grandiosity of it when you are there. Anywhere you are you basically don't see the end. You only see how it vanishes on the horizon like if it didn't have an end.
Depending on what section you visit you will have more or less people around. I went to a section called Jinshanling and I couldn't be happier of going there. Obviously I did my research in advance and saw that it is normally quiet yet still not too far from the city and easily reachable. Here you have proof of it, no one appears on my picture. And also the good thing about this section is that it is not fully restored so you still see many places that are very old and even destroyed. I highly recommend going to this section, plus you get all this beautiful nature surrounding the wall.
Also, one of my favourite places in Beijing was the Summer Palace. Here, even though it is still in the city you can feel a very relaxing atmosphere. It is very big so expect walking for a whole morning. But trust me, it is worth the effort.
You can even take a boat ride to visit it with a different perspective. I didn't because I though I could take better pictures of the boats rather than on them.
You get to cross painted-like bridges like this. They look very steep but nothing that a normal person can handle. What I like of this picture is that I waited for the exact time until I got a boat being in the middle.
The whole area is full of temples that will look good in any picture but if you also play with the perspective you will get incredible shots.
As I said, a very relaxing and quiet place to spend one day and get away from the crowd. You will not want to leave.
This is one entrance, Suzhouhe. The moment you get in you already feel the good vibes. Not many people (for a Chinese tourist attraction) and a very calm atmosphere with that water everywhere and those boats. Definitely a must see during your trip.
Another relaxing park is Beihai Park. Here you can find more people than in the Summer Palace but because it is way smaller. It is a small island next to the Forbidden City. But small does not mean less appealing. Again, water around and boats sailing. Recommended to go at sunset time to see those golden colours over the trees and bridges.
That dragon was even bigger that it looks in the picture. Although it wasn't anything special it deserved a picture.
The Temple of Heaven is a temple situated a bit south of the city centre. Here is where(apart from the city itself) I found the biggest crowd, but you cannot leave Beijing without visiting this place. This is only one temple of many that you can find in the area. Besides, if you go early in the morning you will see many people practising their morning routine of yoga, dancing or any activity you can think of. Even though I said it was a crowded place, this picture gives such a relaxing feeling that it deserves a spot in this post.
