Hello lovely Hiveans !
Today I want to enter the #monomad challenge with this huge gearwheel that I came along during my last walk through the night. It directly caught my eyes and I had to capture it in a photograph. I found that it has a really nice charm on it in monochrome colors and perfectly represents the awesome engineering skills of the pre-digitalized world - I hope you like it ^^
Hello lovely Hiveans !
When I walked around during the night, I came across this huge gearwheel that I am showing here . It is located very close to the faculty of engineering. It is a relict of the old steel and defense industry that was massive during the second world war in the area. Furthermore, it is quite huge and has a diameter of around 2.5 meters and is more than a meter in depth. I am not sure how much it weighs, but according to its supermassive look, I assume it's quite a lot.
It made completely from steel and probably already 100 years old. Nowadays, these are produced completely by machines and carefully concepted by computers, but in former days their production was still a lot of really hard manual work and costs many buckets of sweat and a super precise handwork was required. I find it quite impressive what people were able to produce in these days and how they managed to combine all these massive steal pieces into their big machinery. But if I go a thousand of years further back in time, engineering skills were always quite admirable and made awesome projects possible.
I really like this motive, and it directly caught my eye when I passed by. In monochrome colors it looks even better and kind of fits to the fact that it's old gearwheel from a time when monochrome pictures were the normality, hehe.
