If you were to ask me if I have my own office at home I’d say
sure I do, the kitchen.

As a homemaker I spend most of my time there. Whether it’s planning, prepping or cooking a meal, in the kitchen is where you’ll most likely find me.
Sickness is in the air and has hit so many homes lately. Feeling under the weather is definitely going around and everyone is trying their best to stay well or get well.
Being in a larger family usually means you’ll be fighting off sickness longer because more people are at risk of catching what’s going around. This is true for my family of seven. If one of my kiddos gets sick it’s almost a guarantee that the other six will also.
For the past week I’ve been taking care of the kiddos and getting them back to health. As soon as the last kiddo started feeling better my husband came down with a fever and now I am taking care of him.
While some people may first reach for their medicine cabinets filled with over the counter drugs, I step into our kitchen and reach for a wholesome natural solution. I look at the symptoms and figure out what foods I can put together to get them well again.
My first go to is usually chicken and cabbage soup. That always does the trick of boosting their energy levels and making them feel a bit better. Along with that I put concoctions together to help soothe throats and ease coughing and chest pains. All the while I am proudly in my office…the kitchen.

It’s not just the food and concoctions that keep me in the kitchen it’s also the cleaning.
It’s been a huge help handing over some of the house chores to my children. I haven’t hesitated to delegate certain tasks to help keep things running smoothly. It’s all good when they are well and thriving but when sickness hits I’m left to doing things on my own until my husband returns home from work.
This past week has landed me in the kitchen on a non-stop schedule. Immediately after cooking a meal I am cleaning up to get ready to prepare the next one. It seems there is not much time in between and I end up on my feet for most of the day.
I don’t mind this as it’s my duty to take care of my family and makes me feel really pleased when I see them enjoying the healthy meals I make. It’s just that some days I start to feel trapped in my office and it’s a never ending cycle.
What keeps me going and gives me this rush of adrenaline is focusing on my family staying well and keeping sickness at bay. I know that feeding them all of these vegetables, fruits and spices are what’s best and that will only happen if I keep this mindset. I’ve had that other mindset of…

but thankfully my motivation has over-rid my tiredness and the mundanity of constantly being in the kitchen.
There are perks to having a kitchen as an office. I know exactly what is in the refrigerator, freezer and in every cabinet. Even those things I purposefully accidentally hide away for my own enjoyment that no one ever finds.
Another perk is I have a really great excuse reason for always kicking the kids out…
there’s hot stuff everywhere, get out!
I usually get to have my office to myself minis the few visits for a snack or drink. To be honest my family knows when I’m in my cooking zone I don’t like them coming in and out getting in my way.
The last perk I’ll talk about is taste testing. Even if I already know what a certain food tastes like, I get to eat it because I’m cooking the meal. Sometimes I’ll nibble on so much of the ingredients that by the time the meal is done I’ve already eaten enough to where I’m no longer hungry.
Oooops! 🤭
I am grateful for these little jewels because they are a motivation to keep me going and to help me appreciate my space, my time in the kitchen.

Life in the Kitchen doesn’t seem so bad after all ~

Every workspace should be loved, how nice to read the way you express yourself about the kitchen. We are entrepreneurs and good stewards of resources for our family in charge, even in sickness. Although this is when we are in the litmus test to prove what we are made of. We must keep going for the love of our family and our kitchen, wonderful laboratory of love and health. I wish healing for all.
A hug to you and your family ♥
Hi @parauri! I agree that every workspace should be loved. It would definitely make work a lot easier. Keeping my family in the best health possible is what motivates me.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Thankfully we are all feeling much better now. Now my focus is on keeping us that way. 😄
Thank God that all the discomfort has passed 🙏
Yes!!! 🙌🏽
Thank you ~
Hi, how are you and the family? I think the same as you, when we are sick there is nothing more comforting than a soup. While it is true, there are people who appeal to a medicine cabinet, there is nothing healthier than making a concoction of medicinal herbs, the best medicine to cure flu and fever.
Excellent, teach your children household chores, which will help them to defend themselves in the future. On the other hand, to cook you don't need to be a great chef, just one ingredient the love of cooking. With all my heart I hope the family gets better soon.
Thank you @lrscarmen! We are finally doing better and feeling like ourselves again.
It is true that you don’t need to be the best chef to heal your family with herbs :)
Thanks for the well wishes ~
My brother in law uses the kitchen as a stress remedy - he's a really good cook. The mroe stressed I am, the less I WANT to cook - probably as I feel the weight of the demand to nourish and support others around me. Saying that, when we have guests, I love to cook as I chat (we have an open plan kitchen) as it's soemthing to direct my nervous energy/social anxiety into.
Sorry to hear you've been ill - I know you are the BOSS of healing your family through good food medicine, so I'm sure you have all recovered by the time you get this comment - until the next round of illness!
I get this statement! I know that feeling exactly. It's a great responsibility. I've also used cooking in a way to ease my nerves.
Thanks so much. Yes, we are pretty much back to health. We actually visited a health store and grabbed some immune boosts/support to help us stay well. I had to push through my weakness to cook but I'm so glad I did.
Thanks for always leaving an amazing comment for me to read ~ 💚
Heyyyyyy mama!!! Agree 1000% on the kitchen as our personal office 😂 it's really where all the crazy ideas come while we nurse our family, whether it is cleaning, cooking or stocking up! Flu season is around this time of year, and with the pandemic happening please do take care! Sending you lots of love xx
Hey beautiful mama! It's been so nice hearing from you sweet lady! Haha yes, a lot of our ideas happen right there in our office for sure.
Thank you, you stay well and safe and take care of that beautiful growing family of yours. Lots of love right back at ya~ ❤️
Thank you so much for your support @plantpoweronhive! It's greatly appreciated ~
Ooooooo! I LOVE your selection of spices! I also LOVE your doctoring skills and solutions! Sorry to hear you are sick @crosheille but it seems like your family have had the best possible care.
Thanks @buckaroobaby! It always works better for us when we use food for healing. Now I'm fighting off this sickness but I'm just glad that I was able to be there and take care of my family before it hit me.
Ah!!! The most difficult part-- when anybody in the fam gets sick. Hope yours get back in shape real soon, and don't fall sick, momma. You cannot afford that. 😉
I experienced it last year when I was down and couldn't function well for over 2 weeks. What a nightmare.
And he kitchen as an office? Why not? I can literally stay in the kitchen the whole day. I even told hub's that if ever we'll move to another apartment here or when we will build our own home in PH, I won't mind it being just a big kitchen. 😁
Thanks @arrliinn. I was hanging in there until last week…it hit me hard. 😞 At least I was able to get most of my family back to health before I took the hit.
Wow that’s a long time to be down. How did you manage? I sure hope I can get over this well under a week.
Hahaha love it! 😆 I love hearing about other mom’s and wives loving their office. The kitchen is the place to be!
Yes, people are so quick to rush to the drugs for sickness, when you can certainly improve the situation without it, sometimes.
Very lovely images too!
Yes, very true. We try to make that the last thing we reach for but of course sometimes it is needed.
I thought the images were lovey too. I'm very grateful @vannour made these available for usage ~
The kitchen served as an office, and the meeting table doubled as a dining table 😉.
It sure did! 😁
It is really nice of you taking care of your family to maintain a healthy living because it makes one unhappy when someone falls sick in the family.
It's my duty to take care of them. It's been really tough lately because it just keeps getting spread around but we do what we can to try to keep it away. It's no fun being sick.
