Hello there! My name is Antonia Gaviola but you can call me Toni for short. I am the youngest of seven siblings. I am 39 years old, married and a mother of two.
I grow up in southern part of Cebu, town of Dalaguete a first-class municipality which known as a “Vegetable Basket” of Cebu, because of its productive agricultural economy, also known as “Little Baguio” because of chilly uptown barangays, it has also great beaches for the sun-loving traveler and it is popular as being the gateway to Cebu’s highest point: Osmena Peak. Farming is the most common source of income in our town.
I was once an Overseas Filipino Worker in Taiwan for six years. I was a factory worker in a semiconductor company. It was a great opportunity, I was able to travel, I became independent, build self-confidence, socialized other nationalities. At first, I felt homesick and having difficult to adapt their culture but eventually I coped up, I meet new friends both foreign nationals and Filipinos as well.
I came home in the Philippines year 2016 month of February. I supposed to go back in Taiwan but when I process my requirements I had a problem with my papers, so the process took so long, until one day my niece called me that her mother our eldest sister was rushed into the hospital due to hypertension and her half body was paralyzed. Among of the seven siblings, I was the youngest and single that time so they asked me to took care of her since I was waiting for my papers to be done. Me and my siblings often brought our paralyzed sister to the sea because beach sand contain minerals and iodine substance that can help treat some types of diseases such as paralysis. We planted the body parts of our paralyzed sister in the sand and occasionally done light massage. This sand therapy is also demand of young people to children. Many beaches can be a place of recreation and therapy to maintain health.
In the year 2017 I meet someone that captured my heart, he is my husband right now. We met in our barangay because his company deploy him in our town for water irrigation project. We became friends and eventually a lover. We got married and we have two kids. Being a mom and a housewife isn’t always easy it requires strength, resilience between the endless laundry, school runs, being a caregiver and a homemaker. But amidst the madness there’s a lot of love, laughter in our hearts. Taking care of my children is very fulfilling. A love of a mother is immeasurable.
I am very thankful that I met @antonette for introducing this platform where I can find friends and share my stories. I’m really excited to start blogging and I can’t wait to see where my blog takes me.
