There is something that has become a hobby of mine during my travels or when visiting other cities, which is going to their traditional markets. What is the purpose? Sometimes I just want to see the interaction between the sellers and the buyers in the market, or I want to see the biodiversity that abounds in the market, what are the commodities. Or, I want to go to a traditional market because I want to buy food there.

Like I did the other day. When I was in Solo, I travelled from my accommodation to the Gede traditional market. Pasar Gede is very famous for the wide variety of vegetables and food sold right on the top floor.

Actually, I wanted to go to a mini restaurant where the menu changes every day, as well as drink coffee. But unfortunately, the place I was referring to wasn't open yet. Because I came too early in the morning, while they only open after 10 am.

However, there were other stalls that were already crowded and open. The Dimsum Yum Cha stall which is said to be very famous. Wahh... I just found out that this dimsum is very famous too because my friend told me about it when I sent her a chat message. Finally, without hesitation, I went straight to Dimsum Yum Cha in Pasar Gede.

There is only one type of dimsum on the Dimsum Yum Cha menu, so customers are not confused to choose a variant. The price for one seed of dimsum is 3000 rupiah/pcs. And customers are free to buy how many. I felt quite full with 3 pcs of dimsum, because for lunch, I planned to eat a heavy meal.

After ordering and paying, I chose a table that was still empty, understandably, almost all tables are full here. The sauce served was indeed distinctive. Different from the taste of dimsum sauce in other places. For the flavour of the dimsum, I didn't find any flavour from the sesame oil, so to be honest, it was a bit lacking. Dimsum usually has a blend of savoury and slightly sweet, as well as the fragrance of sesame oil. Well, Dimsum Yumcha doesn't have a hint of sweetness and fragrance from sesame oil... So, in my opinion, it's a bit overrated to label this dimsum as very good. However, it all comes down to individual taste.

Fun fact: when I got home, I found out that there's also a dimsum vendor in the lower alley of the market. His name is DImsum Story. Since the price was the same, I wanted to buy some to compare.

For dimsum story, there are more variants, such as: beef, chicken, mushroom, money bag, and even angsio chicken feet. I bought three pieces to eat later.

Finally, I finished my journey to find dimsum at Pasar Gede Solo. Thank you for reading my post. See you in the next post.
