ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #139: My Favorite Foods

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITY19 days ago

Hey friends! :)
I'm excited to join ASEAN Hive Community Challenge this week because the topic is among my favorites, FOOD.

I am one lucky daughter because both my parents are into cooking and they're pretty good at it, especially my mom. I guess it's also one of the reasons why we seldom eat out... mom's food is better!

I could be biased, of course, but many of my friends and relatives think so. Even some of my previous students in the English Academy who have tried them think the same.

If you're interested in her recipes, you can check out her posts. :)

First things first...

Let me share some of my favorite foods that my parents, especially my mom @arashi0416 made.

I LOVE PASTA!!!

I love pasta dishes and my top favorite is this creamy tuna and egg fettuccini pasta. She first experimented with this dish on my birthday a few years back. I just can't get enough of it.

Until a few years ago, her spaghetti was my favorite. I still love it, though. However, instead of the usual Filipino sweet-style spaghetti, I prefer a simpler version. Japanese-style Napolitan pasta.

This one is much easier to prepare. We only need the pasta, tomato ketchup, bell pepper, bacon, or sliced ham and onion. I enjoy the sour taste more than the sweet style these days.

We also topped this pasta dish with a beautiful sunny-side-up egg made by my father. He's really good at frying. Even though my mom is good at cooking, I still prefer it when father does the frying. hahah mom tends to overcook stuff when she fries...XD

I LOVE CHICKEN AND TOFU

In the past, I prefer beef or pork to chicken. However, I kind of like chicken more these days. haha

Chicken Cordon Bleu

Air Fried Chicken

Chicken Hamonada

The three chicken dishes above are among my favorites. They're all so delicious. I requested Chicken Hamonada for New Year recently. I think my mom's going to share her recipe for it someday. :) She used to make pork hamonada which was also delicious, but I think chicken meat is healthier. haha

Instead of pork, I just love eating tofu so much!!!

Square Tofu and this tomato stir fry tofu were amazing! I kind of have a craving for tofu all of a sudden. There was also that one time she made spaghetti with tofu... ahhh heaven~~~ hahaha

My mom's dishes are truly the best!

STREET FOOD!

Aside from my parents' homecooked meals, I also like eating street foods! I try not to eat them very often, but there are times when I suddenly crave them. :)

Kwek-kwek is a great stress reliever! hahaha It's a quail egg inside an orange batter.

Another street food that I like is isaw. It's chicken intestine. It's perfect to eat with hanging rice. <3

Lastly, I also love "taho". It's fresh soft tofu with brown sugar syrup and sago. It's a common Filipino snack food. The taho vendor would go around town and shouts "TAHOOOO" to get customer's attention. I miss eating this!

My love for food is endless, but sadly, I have some restrictions because of my allergies. I'm allergic to most kinds of seafood and even seasonings containing them.

My mom loves seafood dishes, but she can't cook them much at home... or at least when I'm home. Well, especially her favorite, shrimp. It's because even the smell of shrimp makes me feel nauseous for some reason. (I used to eat it several years back when my allergic reaction wasn't that severe).

That's why when we eat out, she usually orders them. haha Anyway, I'll end this post here. Thanks for reading and see you around! (^^,)/

Thank God I've had my dinner, or else I would crave these LOLs. And with a mom who can cook like this, I guess there's no reason to eat out 😄
