SPOTLIGHT INDONESIA: CULTURE THAN AND NOW

Hii Asean people, how are you? I hope you are all well. This time I will share my experience of attending a fashion show. I'm not a fashion enthusiast, but I'm always interested when I see fashion shows on TV. And the first time I went was Spotlight Indonesia fashion show.

Spotligh is the latest fashion event from Indonesia Fashion Chamber. It was launched for the first time in December 2022. The theme was "CELEBRATING DIVERSITY" which featured a variety of archipelago wastras from various extraordinary Indonesian designers.
Ah, previously I knew about this event from my friend who happened to be close to us from one of the writing communities. And coincidentally, she became one of the organizers who helped the Spotlight event process. She finally shared the invitation with us. Because I was interested in the fashion show and wanted to see how the designers made those amazing clothes.

I finally arrived after traveling for almost two hours. Because I used the train to get to my destination. The venue was Pocblock Jakarta, a Dutch heritage building. The fashion show was well organized here.

And I was quite amazed, my eyes might be seen very sparkling at that time, because it was a new experience to come directly to this fashion event.
Since then, I decided to come back.

Last year. October 2023, spotlight Indonesia organized another event with the theme Culture Than And Now. Still in the same place, Pos Block, the event was held with great fanfare, I was able to attend a worksop about how fastfashion is rampant in the industry today.

After re-registering, I was given a seat to watch the fashion show. Of the many outfits on display, I liked some of the designers. One of them was the work of designer Deden Siswanto, all the clothes were modeled by men, with woven fabrics mixed and matched with ethnic styles and mixing it with one of Indonesia's cultures.

In addition to Deden Siswanto, there was a piece by Lenny Agustin that showcased Indonesian kebaya and made it look less monotonous. This time the kebaya was made very modern, Lenny Agustin managed to maintain the characteristics of the Indonesian kebaya but looked very beautiful when paired with short skirts with patterns. It seemed to follow the trend of today's youth. And this amazed me. That kebaya, which is one of Indonesia's heritages, looks so alluring in the hands of these designers.

Not only those two designers, some other designers also managed to steal my attention. I don't know how the other guests described this event. But for me, this event is always memorable.

In some places, there were some of the designer's works displayed in some places. One of them was on the staircase. Some clothes made from waste jeans were recycled into very nice clothes. And it didn't look like they were old jeans.

And you know what? Spotlight will be held again this year, yup in 2024. Precisely on December 12 to 15, 2024. In a bigger place, the Jakarta Convention Center. Wow, I really can't wait to come and see the excitement of this event.
Can't wait to see many famous Indonesian designers create their designs. And I also can't wait to see who are the actresses and influencers who will come and maybe they will also be the models of the event.
