CUCURAK tradition before fasting

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITY8 months ago

Hello everyone, how are you, long time no see. I hope you all are always healthy and fine. Lately I've been busy with a lot of housework because I'm doing renovations.
So I didn't have time to write.

Last Wednesday, the mothers from our children's school and I did CUCURAK, Cucurak is a tradition in this village which means having fun or gathering with friends or relatives. This is one of the events held before the fasting month, we eat together.

We held this event at a friend's house which happened to be very close to the school. We cook this food together.
As usual we cook simple but delicious food. We ate on banana leaves. Don't forget we also cook for the children. Here we make many menus such as fried chicken, fried noodles, vegetable karedok, fried tempeh, chili sauce, boiled cassava leaves, crackers, salted fish and petai.

Everyone ate together on the leaves, we sat facing each other.

Does your place have a tradition like this??? It's so delicious and we can't wait to eat it. Sorry if the photo I took wasn't good because I was in a hurry because I was very hungry. Coincidentally, this cooking show started when I got home from school, so imagine how hungry I was at that time!

Not only us, the children were very happy and enjoyed the food.

After we finished eating and cleaning up we sat back and chatted before returning to our respective homes. There were several people who brought leftover food to take home. But there are also those who don't. We do all the work together so that it can be completed quickly, because we don't want to burden the host.
