Do you have any idea how old this is? I don't either,😀but one thing is sure this is older than me.😀 This is my 4th time posting another old stuff. You may ask, "Aren't you tired of writing about the past? Well, Sorry,🙂 and please bear with me, I'm just carried away with these things due to our "long season" of decluttering. Lol.
As far as I can remember, I saw this suitcase in my grandparent's home in the province when I was little. However, I'm not sure if this was the same one that we had in our house for the longest time. It's possible that it could come from my great-grandparents. If this was it, I have no idea how it came to be in our house. It went with us wherever we transferred. Like @jurich60, in her most recent post, she mentioned that she didn't throw old things. In a way, we share the same characteristic. We both believe that we can still utilize them in any way or use them in the future.
Though it's old stuff, I haven't thought of disposing of it, not until June of this year that I finally decided to do so because we needed to declutter due to our transfer. It used to contain some old stuff like old curtains, blankets, etc.
Before disposing of it, I thought of fixing and making it into a toy box and decorating it so that the kids could keep their toys therein. However, I finally decided not to because it was really our intention to declutter.
A Comparison
While making the draft of this post, a few things popped up into my mind. I thought, "Things can be like people in some aspects." Old stuff, when they are out of style, non-functioning, or some parts are broken, they are either sold, given or thrown away. In like manner, these things can happen to people who are already old.
Like this suitcase which is worn out and weak, some people, when they are incapacitated and cannot fulfill their responsibilities anymore like earning or generating resources for the family or contributing something to the family like doing household chores, may seem useless or even unwanted.
In the case of celebrities or personalities, when they lose their shine or when tarnished, most likely their popularity fades away because they are replaced by new ones. Lucky are those who still excel or are in demand. This is sad but what can we do? Life is really like that and it's a reality.
Like the rust in these parts of the suitcase, oldies can get rusty too when their skills, mental faculties and other capabilities aren't as good as they used to be.
All people will eventually die. Yes, the oldies are incapacitated and useless but we have to remember that we won't be in this world without them. I have high regard for those people who love and take care of old people. Someday, when you and I become old and frail, we also long to be loved and taken care of.
A Treasure
While thinking about these things, I thought about my own parents. I shed tears and missed them. When we were born into this world, we were their treasure; they toiled and took care of us perhaps even more than themselves. Our needs became more important than their own. They would rather sacrifice for us rather than have us go through what they have been through. Hope that when they are old they will forever be our treasure too.
I am grateful that I had the opportunity to serve and take care of them according to the best of my capacity despite my circumstances, especially during their last days.
Thank you so much for reading. Until next time.😀
Take care!

This maleta were indeed the maleta style in 1950's to 1970's. Yeah, this can be restored and turned into toy cabinet or for my yarns, hahaha! Love your post...
Hehehe, sayang tinapon na Sis.😀
Good post .you are a good daughter to your parents, kudos to that. I have the same luggage from the husband's grandma,I store my yarns in there.
Thank you, Sis.🙂 Same with @jurich60 she also wanted to keep her yarns in there.
Old one is indeed a treasure. I love that old stuff. Using for organizer box is great idea 😊
Yeah, I think so too but we need to lessen our things due to our transfer of residence.

I think it's cool how you've linked your parents to this suitcase – a gem! I love discovering vintage items. Keep posting about them 😁
Thank you.🙂 I will try to recall the stories behind some of the old stuff we have here.
