During our last days in Bangkok, we stayed at a hotel a bit closer to the big river. Apparently, there's this big and famous mall that everyone recommends us to visit just once. It's also just across the River City Bangkok, a mall with artworks, antiques, and some other collectors' items. We visited there for a while to see the arts and went our way to the Iconsiam.
One of the ways to get to the mall is to ride a boat from River City. It's convenient and it's free! A great way to bring in customers. :D
The mall is so pretty and looking really luxurious. They got some luxury brands as well and it's like the whole first floor is full of these brands.
The design looks so pretty but it is also really confusing to get around here, especially as a tourist. Most malls we have here in the Philippines are shaped like a big rectangle where the middle is a big event area but this one has an odd shape and even has 10 floors.
The craziest thing here for me is H&M has 3 floors!!! Like I know this brand here is popular but geez just chill LOL.
I also visited an art exhibit on the 2nd or 3rd floor and some other art galleries nearby.
On the 7th floor, you can go outside to overlook the river!
They also have Starbucks here nearby, and damn it would be so nice to have coffee here with this view!
We weren't able to sit here and drink coffee though, we didn't have enough time. Also we didn't go back here when it was dark since we forgot, and now I'm curious what it was like at night with all the lights!
And then we went to the ground floor for the foods. They all have sorts of food here and it kinda has the street theme. There was this one food that literally smells disgusting though, maybe it was some animal bile or something. I never liked those.
One of the stores here have the best orange juice. We forgot where it was though when we came back for more lol. We went around and just bought some other orange juice. The other one was still better. :D
Looks nice!
It looks marvelous at night!
After walking around, customers can also ride the boat from the mall to the other side of the river. So convenient!
When I come back here, I will surely go back to that supermarket where I bought the dried chili mangoes! I miss it dearly. XD

That place was pretty majestic, I liked some of the icecream they had. ;p
Yeah that was good. :P And the orange juice XD
I want that orange juice so bad rn ;(
Let’s go back to Thailand and go to Iconsiam first thing to get your orange juice and my dried mangoes🤣
very nice city and also looks very interesting hopefully one day I can have the opportunity to go there
Yeah someday! It's nice in Bangkok, really busy but in a good way :D
Just do it but anyway we can meet there for a coffee :-)
It's also my first time ...
Hopefully I can visit there and of course I will be very happy if I can go there.
Also my first time …
This city is very amazing, the pictures you share look so enchanting, I am very interested in this city, maybe if I have free time I will also travel there.
Thank you! For sure, you will have lots of fun there :D
I have to go there as well :-) My English is not the best.
Greets from Vienna
@schmidi
Yes, my English is also not the best, I use a translator Quick translator
Me too normaly for my blogpost I use deepl.com
It's so hugeeee!
I think I'll be lost there. I mean it's so big and it seems so complicated. 😅
Malls here in Japan are like that of the Philippines, it's easy to navigate.
Love the view! If shopping is so tiring, you can just chill and observe on the 7th floor's overlooking view.
You should have bought something in SB! 🤣
Yup, so complicated hahah. Yeah I wish we did! Maybe we also had enough of Starbucks that day cos we already drank in the morning. 😂 Would be nice with a cold drink probably. :D
Starbucks twice in a day, yeah? 😂
Wow the views are amazing 😂. Real nice hopefully I'll travel there too
One day!
Bookmarked. Maybe someday I will be landing there :) I love the architecture of the building. I like to see water, but I don't like swimming. So, just looking at the river would be nice activity :)
P.S: Did you play with exposure on your iPhone to get a darker tone or ...? That's cool :)
Haha yeah especially this river is also busy, lots of shit going on in there. You can even dine in one of the cruises, I just don't know how to but probably just easy to Google. :D
The first 8 photos were taken with my iPhone but the others like this were taken with my Fuji X-T4. I did edit the iPhone photos to be a bit darker and have warmer tones but if you were referring to the Fuji shots about the darker tone, it was cos I used their film simulation and just edited it a bit in Capture One. Though, you can also edit this way with iPhone shots but I don't know the exact recipe haha. (since Fuji's film simulation is built-in or like their feature)
Now Im thinking again about buy new camera :) I need new Vibes to my photo results. ehehe
Haha yeah Fuji's film simulation are really good and you can even just take the jpeg straight out of the camera with no need for editing. It just looks so good and I love the vibes it gives. :D
Everywhere looks so pretty in Bangkok. The mall is undeniably amazing. There are sure many floors that you have no shown us, and they most likey are pretty as the ones we see here.
I wonder, what kind of orange is that? Looks very different from the ones I grew up knowing.
We weren't able to really walk around to all the floors because it's so big and confusing! Maybe next time when we have more time. :D
Hahaha sorry about the orange, I have no picture of it. It just happens that I talked about the orange below the pomegranate pic lol sorry about the confusion.
Is the mall bigger than in Dubai?
I don't know haha never been to Dubai :D
Googling it, it says Dubai Mall is the world's largest so can't be bigger than that :D
Okayyyyyy :-) hehehe
The mall looks like the sci-fi buildings in movies. 😆 Anyway, they have an amazing malls there compared to us here in Phil. I would totally get lost in that kind of setting; I even got lost here at malls in a rectangle structure.
True! Their architecture looks like a combination of a kingdom, spaceship, futuristic them lol.
10 floors? And H&M is distributed on 3 floors?
Ok, I would just directly go down where the food is :D
Yes!! You won't even be able to know which floor you are in unless you consciously count it. It's so confusing hahah. The floor where the food is is also sooo big! That's how we got confused and didn't find that one stall that sells the best orange juice again even though we were just there few days prior. I think you will love their food market. :D
Well, I do hope I would love the food section :D
It's so different and exotic compared to the European cuisine. I am not really sure we can have the real and full taste of it here in the Asian restaurants.
The same as would happen with a Spanish paella or Hungarian goulash, but in Bangkok :))
Yesss I even tried a scorpion in there 🙈 and their fried rice is sooo good! As well as pad thai they’re so full of flavors and spices. True true! There is no better way to eat Asian foods than to be in Asia :D and same with European food lol
A scorpion...? Brave you :)) 🥂 🙌
Being drunk helps... hahahah
Awesome shots. My wife and I had some really good ice cream in that mall.
Nice! Where did you get it? We also had some ice cream at the ground floor/ food floor and I think it was called Movenpick, it was good :D
I think there was a place set up at one of the entrances. My wife got a pink one that looked really cool. I don’t remember what the shape was though.
Since I see your fuji results, now I am conflicted whether I should get sony or fuji 😂 I want to upgrade my camera to a6000 but fuji is also tempting. Price wise, Sony that I want is cheaper but maybe fuji is better and I could wait a bit?
One of the reasons why I got a Fuji is because of the look it gives, it captures colors and light differently than other camera brands and I think you can see that.. not even using a Fuji film simulation and I'd still see a difference. :D I heard Sony is also good, I also was thinking of getting Sony before vs Fuji hahah but I like having Fuji more. Hmm, I suggest you watch some Youtube videos of Fuji vs Sony (the camera model you like)? Fuji doesn't really release that much camera models so there's not much you can choose from. It will also depend on what you're gonna use it for - check which camera has a better autofocus, video capture, and some other features you might need. Can't really say which one you should get as it depends on what your goals are and at the same time I don't know much about cameras atm hahah.
Yeah, I can totally see the difference between Fuji and other camera especially Sony. I generally need something for landscape and urban setting which is the reason why Fuji gets more appealing to me. Although from what I read, landscape photographers don't use Fuji that much compared to Canon and Sony. So, I don't know 😂 but I also read are some Fuji models that are good for landscape too. I used Sony a5000 before and it was so-so when I tried doing landscape.
Hmm yeah, is it because Fuji has no full frame cameras? Based on my observation (and not really a deep research lol) most Fuji users are enthusiasts although there are professional photographers as well. Did they say why they chose Canon and Sony for landscape photography? Full frame sensors have advantages for landscapes (wider scope, better in low light) and that’s probably why they chose those brands than Fuji? I don’t know hahah to me it really is a matter of preference. Lens matter as well, some can be sharper and faster with autofocus than others and won’t matter that much with which camera you use. For example, I don’t use my 18-55mm lens that much (they call it kit lens) since I noticed it’s way less sharp than my other Fuji lenses. Fujjs have really good lenses and are cheaper than other brands (but I may be wrong with the price) so yeah these are some of the things you’d want to consider when choosing. :D
But in the end, the gear shouldn’t matter much tbh.
This is really the best shopping mall I've ever seen. I'm sure it has everything. You can even cross the river with boat lol. I want to come here one day and have ice cream with you and @acidyo.
Yeah it has lots of activities as well! Now I’m regretting why we didn’t go to the cinema there or research even more maybe we can find a game center. Lol. It’s fun in this area of Bangkok.
Ice cream would be nice!!
You can probably find a game center. It's huge, there should be a game center too.
I missed Icon Siam.
Me too!

Really awesome content! Really nice report from Bangkok! Amazing pics ...
Such a stunning city. I can remember all they way back in 2010 when I decided to relocate to SE Asia. I arrived in Bangkok thinking I'd look for work in Thailand, but I was so overwhelmed by the skylines and fast-paced life that I couldn't handle it because I'm a farmboy from the countryside.
I headed for Cambodia at that time, and I still live here to this day, but pre-COVID I always flew in and out of Bangkok, taking the train to and from the Cambodian border. I have seen glimpses of Bangkok through the years because of this, and my American friends never believe when I say it's more modern and clean than most of our similarly sized cities.
The food is always so good too, even random hotels and guesthouses have outstanding dishes. We're awaiting an international border crossing to open with Trat, hopefully before the end of the year. We only live 30 minutes from this border, so a roadtrip to Trat may be possible soon.
Oh nice! I wonder how it looks like under construction :o You guys must be like “wtf is that supposed to be?”🤣 Why didn’t you visit after it was done?
