For the uninitiated, Nadi is my dog and she turned an estimated 11 years old this year. She has been with me in 3 different cities, at 7 different houses, in two different countries. She doesn't really seem to mind where we are but the constant moving around over the years has made her have certain qualities such as not really enjoying being around other dogs. Aside from when she was really young and we were dog-sitting a Shih-Tzu that was owned by someone else, she has never spent any sort of long period of time around any other dogs and therefore she mostly just wants all of them to steer clear of her.
She really likes people though and she is an easy-going dog. She is extremely easy to care for and doesn't really need much from me, even though I give her everything.
While she doesn't really enjoy posing for pictures, she will do it if there is a snack involved and trust me, there is almost always a snack involved. Here she is trying on my reading glasses that I ordered on the internet for a dollar and a half or something absurdly low like that.
In the morning, Nadi gets really excited about our post-breakfast walk. Well on this particular day the weather was just perfect do I decided to make it an extra long walk. She hit the ground running like she always does, so excited to be outdoors. Well, lets just say that her enthusiasm for the activity died down a bit after the 4th km and when we got home she went into a bit of a doggy coma for a few hours. 4km is a long way for most people, but imagine how tiring it is when your legs are only 5 inches long?
The next one doesn't say much about the state in which I regularly leave my apartment, but it has a story.
About 18 months ago, Nadi got a hold of some KFC bones that were in a trash bag that had fallen on the floor. I was out when it happened or I would have intervened. Well, these KFC bones nearly killed her. They got caught in her throat and by the time we got to a vet that could figure out what was wrong with her the bone fragments were just a few centimeters from entering her lungs. Had that happened it would have been game over for my doogie friend. That was a close call and a very real eye-opener for me. Therefore, she doesn't get much when KFC is delivered. I still give her some but definitely not any bones!
Speaking of the vet: Here she is at the vet for her regular check up and updates on her vaccinations. This is her least favorite place in the world and it is evident that this is her feeling about it when we are there. I have to accompany her to the vet room because she has a history of biting the people that work there when I am not around. There was one time that I went there to have a finger/paw nail removed that was a real problem for us and she bit 4 people... one of the people she bit was me. She really doesn't like it when people mess with her paws.
Nadi has a pretty content life and a lot of this is because I work at home and am around her almost all of the time. She mostly just sits on her various beds or the cushions I have for her on the sofa but every now and then some of the outdoors doggies make some noise in the street and she has to go investigate. That balcony isn't useful for very much else but I keep that door open for her all the time unless it gets too hot.
This one cracks me up because she gets so excited to go certain places and every time we go the the magic closet (the elevator) she is just losing her mind about what sort of adventure we are about to go on. Well this particular time we were just going to go outside and wait for my food to be delivered. Upon getting on the table in front of me she immediately starts to fall asleep. I think she spends a great deal of her life either sleeping or on the road to sleeping yet her ability to just run like mad when we go on walks just comes so easy to her. I don't look forward to the days when her body starts to break. Despite being 11 years old she is still pretty spry and acts like a puppy on a regular basis.
While these shots were not all taken in one day, they are fairly representative of what a day in the life of Nadi is like. A lot of sleeping, a lot of relaxing, and occasionally looking over the side of the balcony to see what those street dogs are up to. I'm pretty sure that she is very content.
Eh. Didn't know your unit at lower level. According to the picture of Nadi by the balcony
it wasn't before. I recently moved because the unit is actually larger than the one that I had on a higher floor.

She does seem very relaxed. Hood thing you brought her to the very soon when that bone incident happened. Happy 11 years, Nadi!
thanks pal! I think she is pretty content with her life and I am content with her.
Nice to know that! Ill see her often in your posts
Awwww this was so heartwarming to read as I can feel your love and warmth for her from your post and I guess everyone needs a Nadi in their life.
Cheers to more amazing years with this awesome dog of yours😊
THanks. on a recent trip to the doggy doctor they said they can't believe that she is 11 because her blood and teeth and everything are in really great shape. That was nice to hear
The new original recipe tenders from KFC are really good and bonus... no bones! I was also kind of impressed by their "comeback sauce". It kind of reminds me of Cane's Sauce which is from a really popular chicken finger place in the states called Raising Cane's (incase you didn't know). It's one of my nieces favorites. You've definitely given Nadi her best life. You two are lucky to have each other!
Unfortunately the KFCs here have only ketchup and chili sauce. I've asked for just BBQ sauce many times but no dice.
Ah man, that sucks. The comeback sauce is worth trying if you ever get a chance! They are really missing the boat on that one!
Hello Nadi, you look so pretty intelligent on your first pic! 😍
You've been to so many places but as long as you are with your human you are home. All the best to you Nadi!❤️❤️♥️
Ah I love that dog. So great to see her as a recurring character on your adventures!
While I would prefer enjoying other people’s dogs occasionally to having my own, I am married to a lifelong dog lover so that is not an option.
I love my little dood to and find nobility in sacrificing a couple hours of each day letting him lose his mind at Dogwars. No mystery closet at our house except the car but he likes to try and do laps in the front seat on the way to our adventure.
Hope you are doing well old friend.
Almost all dogs are good dogs and yours looks like a very energetic one at that. We don't have any dog parks here but if we did have one Nadi would almost certainly just find a chair next to me and then bark at all the other dogs and reprimand them for having fun without ever joining in. She's such a brat
Amazing how glasses can make anyone look intelligent ad I mean that in a good way with Nadi lol as I have been fooled by dumb humans wearing spectacles. 11 is still young as my Chocolate Labrador is 14 and has been slowing down gradually each month which is rather worrying. Bones are bad news unless you get the softer bigger one from the butcher where they can suck the marrow out. Nadi has definitely changed your life and who knows may be living somewhere else in the world if not for her.
I think I definitely would have moved during Covid times had it not been for the complications associated with her getting on the plane as well. In the end my time has been good in Vietnam so I am kind of glad that she threw a wrench into the works as far as that was concerned.
