Discount steaks and a sleepy dog

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITYyesterday

It's been a fairly uninteresting week. I participated in watching some sports with friends but for the sports that I really enjoy this normally means waking up a lot earlier than I want to. You may recall that sleep schedules are quite important to me even though I don't really have to wake up at any particular time of day. My job incorporates working on contracts that are normally assigned with a lot more time than I actually need in order to finish said projects so if I want to stay in bed until 3 in the afternoon there is absolutely nothing stopping me from doing exactly that.

I guess I just feel like a bit of a scumbag when I actually do that. I feel like there is a time in your life for partying all the time and sleeping all day and those days are not your 40's. I look around this town and see plenty of people, even people that are substantially older than me that do exactly that and I admit that I kind of look down on them and think their lives are very boring. While I don't necessarily do anything important in the morning I feel more like a normal person when I do that.

Then of course there is the situation with my dog, Nadi. She would be willing to go to bed and wake up just whenever and as long as I remember to give her "yumyums" twice a day she doesn't really care.

Every now and then I take her down to the beach for a rather extensive walk and on the day that this photos was taken we managed to walk a full 5km. Now for me a 5k walk is nothing really taxing, it is just time-consuming and again, since I don't really have anywhere that I have to be, why not? We mostly just walk until I feel like she is getting tired and then we sit down at one of these many places that they have for you to sit. It is like a park bench but made of cement so that nobody can steal it. That's something that is a bit crappy about this city and perhaps the rest of the country. Things will be stolen if they can be so I suppose it is quite smart to make things out of undesirably and really difficult to move products like dement.

You might notice that the sky is really overcast and that is how it is just about all the time this time of year. Some people that live here complain about that and how it is "cold." For me, this is the time of year that I like the most and since I avoid having a tan anyway the lack of sun matters not to me.

Remember my air fryer? Well I am about to put that bad boy to use on some discount steaks that I recently found in what could be considered our local butcher.

I picked up these 5 steaks for about $14. I am not expecting them to be terribly good but if there is one thing that I have learned about my air fryer up to this point it is that the quality of the meat isn't really all that important. 8 minutes in that things is going to cook it almost perfectly and I don't know much about cooking and that is what makes the air fryer so fantastic for someone like me.

Are these steaks good? I have no idea. I would imagine they are nothing special but I am not going to purchase good quality beef here because the only good beef we have is imported from USA, Japan, or Australia and as you would expect, it is really expensive. Well, not REALLY expensive but it costs a lot more than anything else you can get here.

Here's something kind of random that I found a lot funnier than I probably should the other night. A friend of mine who recently became a father is learning as he goes along. His wife has 2 kids from a previous marriage and she is much better versed in this sort of thing than he is but this was great because Mom was out at the market and Dad was at home with the baby and a couple of his friends who were visiting. The bottom floor of their house is also a bar and while this little thing she is in is meant to be run all around the place there are too many things at head level that could hurt her such at the pool table that is right next to her in this picture. Therefore when Mom is away and Dad is playing pool with his friends the baby gets to sit in the stroller, but only if she is tied off or tethered. She doesn't mind because she doesn't know any different. Trust me, this baby gets plenty of attention.

There are times in my life that I sometimes feel as though I missed out by not having children but I have a remedy for that: I just go and visit one of the few friends that I have that DO have children and after about an hour of that I am once again very pleased that I do not have children. I already experience certain limitations of movement and freedom simply from having a dog. Multiply that by a LOT and you have what sort of restrictions having a child will put on your life. My friend is basically not able to go and do anything and well, you kind of have to watch a child a lot more closely than you have to watch a dog. I can leave Nadi unattended for hours or even once an entire day. You can't really leave kids alone for more than a few minutes if they are awake without them somehow managing to hurt themselves. No offense to anyone out there that does have children, I am sure it is a wonderful experience, but it is an experience that isn't for me.

Tomorrow I make my first bowling title defense in the DUMBO league against this baby's mother of all people. She has been the champion before in the past. By all metrics I am better than she is but I am beatable, if I am having a bad day I will defeat myself!

Sort:

Best of luck to you with your bowling competition tomorrow. I am sure you will do fine and whatever the outcome you will be pretty okay with it. It's a lot of pressure to maintain that level! Those look like pretty decent steaks. It doesn't look like there is a ton of marbling, but the meat looks decent. If it makes you feel better I bought a couple ribeyes the other day and they were $16.99 per pound. Ridiculous. I'm glad you are liking your airfryer. They are so game changing!

woow! so cute puppy, Me too i have a pet maybe i will share here this platform soon lol

Your dog looks like it wants to indulge watching the waves at the beach. So cuuuteee. ❤️

That is so true as we do beat ourselves when we should be winning. Kids are a proper commitment and had mine when I was young and now with grand kids doing the school run it is like I have even more kids. I think it is something you get used to and the timings are important even though you are never financially ready for what is ahead.

That's is true! There will be less freedom when you have a kid especially on their infant years. And your dog looks like she's judging you on the first photo. Lol
